Another reason I went with the 18s is because I dd my autocross tires and didn't want my mph or other settings to be affected in the computer.

As long as the overall diameter is close to stock (25"), the speedometer will still be accurate. I know this is a "tracking" forum, but it's okay to defend aesthetics. 18s look better. If I had to use one set of wheels for DD and autox, I might do the same.

Another reason people choose 17" for autox is you can fit fatter tires. 235 is really the widest you can fit on a 18x7.5. However, what you gain in grip you lose in response.

I just really hate driving on 18s on the roads here...

If I had the option to go back id pick 17x7.5 w/245 tires. I do think 18's look better but they just don't offer the tire options that 17's do when trying to fit lot of rubber underneath.
