center console rubber melted off??

Its been years since I have been on the side. I didn't drive my 2010 GTI for 6 months and the heat and humidity caused the rubber or whatever material that is on the center console and the door handles to fall off. I would like to know if I'm able to replace that or I wont consider Carbon fiber? Any thoughts thanks in advance

It's called soft touch, and it's a VW foul-up... also on Audis too. Had similar experiences on the MKV, but my center console literally disintegrated on this car. I pulled and replaced the center console with a replacement from ebay. Install is extremely easy. Door panels are still ok with the exception of the cloth on mine, but I'm not sure what the options are there besides replacing the entire door skin.
