Golf R Water Pump question

I'm thinking about trading in my '11 GTI for a '12 or '13 Golf R. I'm pretty familiar with how awful the water pumps on the TSI motors are, so I'm curious if the same thing is true for the FSI motors. I did a quick google search on it, but the only thing I saw was an issue about them exploding on cars with a Feb or March '12 build. Was this a general issue like it was with the GTI?

Thanks

water pump

The cars with the bad pumps were recalled by VIN numbers so they should all be fixed by now. The Golf R has a FSI motor so the thing you need to have checked and replaced as needed is the Cam Follower for the Fuel Pump. Check ever 15K should work. About a $50.00 part vs $2500.00 engine repair if it wears through.
