Opened the oil cap when idle and the idle got pretty rough, so the PVC is probably ok.

Did you pull the dipstick? It should have at least a slight effect on idle.

Yes, not as dramatic as opening up the oil cap though.

At your mileage, it's worth checking green o-ring at the turbo outlet pipe to intercooler hose junction. They live in oil and are usually mushy and swollen. This is a very common leak.
