Anytime you mess with electrical connectors in these cars, always remove the battery (ground). It will eliminate any error codes like the one you currently have.

it still throws a code. ^ it's a safety feature. basically it's vw way of saying, you tempered with the factory set up (unplugged a wire) and we are not responsible if something happens to you when you are in an accident. Vagcom wasn't part of vw's deal, it's something tuners take action with. an old woman driving a tdi wouldn't tamper with the car.

more like it's VW's way of getting VW owners to pay for "diagnostic" checks for those who aren't into modifying their cars.
