Hit a cat: 500$ repair

Low speed impact, and cat survived because I am a nice guy and don't like to run over anything. Broke the louvered bits in the bumper. Replacing them will cost 500$. Seems VW only supplies replacement part with parking sensors that my car does not have. Don't know how much this adds to the cost of the part. But at 30K I haven't any other issues, so I guess I've gotten off pretty easy. Looked for carbon-fiber replacement part just for the sake of comparison with no luck.
A friend hit a turkey in his GTI and the repair cost about 5000$. But he was at speed.

Upgrade to the 35th edition front bumper! That's not a bad thing btw, I would take the opportunity to install the sensors AND paint the front bumper however you want (paint match for example).

Just wandered over to the MK7 site, and read about paint issues on some Golfs. This is the only problem I have had: paint is coming off leading edge of driver's side door, and the weather stripping is wearing the paint off sills on both front doors. The black paint is just very flimsy. I've been talking with my dealer for some time about this. We'll see what VW does about it. I'd like my car painted the metallic eggplant color I saw on an Infinity in San Francisco last week...
I know this will happen when pigs fly. Still...
