According to a survey, I believe by Forbes, the average GTI owner in America is 40 years old. The GTI is the tenth most ticketed car in America too.

I think the fourms better represent younger drivers, and drawing conclusions from a survey here would not be an accurate representation of the true demographic.

I think there are a ton of over 30 year olders here on this forum.

I am 35, but think like a 25 year old. I've seen just as many silver haired gents driving this car than young folk. Seriously.

Show your wife the 4 door.... and then get her on this thread immediately and she'll get this crap outta her head. Who she think she is... marketing police??? (I am sure she is a darling)

If you were on the Honda forums then that would be the case. When it comes to the VW, as you can tell the age ranges.

I'm 27.5 years old.

Yeah, no offense man, but your wife is tripping out. I'm 33 and I have gotten nothing but compliments and respect on my car since getting it. The earlier guy was right, its not some japanese rice rocket a la WXR or Speed3, its a refined piece of german automotive engineering, sports the same engine platform as the Audi A3 and A4 but is more fun, and more practical. And its not a cheap car, and maybe some college grads can easily shell close to $30k when all is said and done for a car, but I know I couldn't have pulled that off when I was 22. If you like the car you should go for it man. You won't regret it for a minute!

I'm beginning to notice that the older the GTI drivers, the greater the chances that he/she drives the 4 door.

Just an observation. Having said that, in 6 years, I may very well land myself a 4 door mk7 R20... or whatever it'll be called.
