NO paint job will "handle" a machine wash. You'll get micro scratches from tip to toe. If that doesn't bother you, fine.
I, for one, want to keep my duco as pristine as possible. Hand wash with quality mittens and dry with microfibre towels.

mau65, do you have the iPod/AUX-in connectors with the RCD510? Could you also take and post a picture of what's inside the armrest? I'd be grateful.

Hi wicius,unfortunately I do not have a photo, but inside the armrest, there is only AUX-IN !!!!!!!

Well, I'd love to see three pictures- where the AUX-in is, where USB port is and what's inside the armrest. And thanks for answering the question, I ws wondering for a few days now whether AUX-in and USB comes standard with RCD510. Good to know it does.

No USB wicius,only AUX-in with rcd510!!!!!But 6 cd in rcd510 and sd,vw says 2gb, but I use a 4gb,see page 1 !!!!!!!!!!
