Do VMR wheels chip easy? Attn: VMR

My new wheels with less than 500 miles on them and only 2 weeks old and the rear look like CRAP now. I drove a 300 mile round trip drive through the hill country of Texas (all paved roads), and just got around to washing my car. My front wheels are perfect but the backs around the whole lip look like the picture below. I have taken these routes in all my cars and never seen a wheel get this type of damage before. Not too happy right now. :(

Picture below shows chips all around the lip. It is all around the whole wheel, and the other side as well. These wheels had NO MARKS at all on them when I left that morning.

VMR please let me know what you think?

where they powder coated a different color?

any wheel could chip. most silver wheels have a clear coat on them which should give added protection, but if you have some matte/flat colored wheel its possible they'll show chips easier. all wheels will chip over time. i had a pencil tip sized one on my BBS CO's but just the clear coat, not the actual paint.

Yea but they don't chip in a 300 mile trip like this. They look like they have a clear coat on them.

Contact vmr and see what they can do. No they should not chip especially when you just got it.

They seem to chip very easily.. I just got my gunmetal 18 VMR V710s and just putting the wheels on my car, being EXTREMELY careful, I have a few chips near the lug bolts. Pretty annoying. I'll post some pics tonight.

I've already contemplated getting them powdercoated but they're less than a week old and I just spent over $1500 on wheels/tires so we'll see.

I have the Gunmetal 701's as well in 18's and I just noticed the chipping as well as I was washing my car! I've barely had them on for 1000 miles. Apparently they chip pretty easy.

I'm going to contact VMR on Monday to put in a claim. There is a one year warranty against any defects. Since you and I are in the same boat being that we just bought them not too long ago and are experiencing chipping, we can both bring it up to VMR and see about getting them replaced.

They were waxed :). Either way they should not be chipping like this. Wish VMR would respond. :(

for those of you having issues, I hope VMR steps up and backs their product. I have been looking at a set of 710s, but will definitely watch and wait at this point. It's frustrating to spend that kind of money and have issues this early. Good luck and keep us all informed.

I have also contacted Andrew with Redline to see this thread so he is aware of the issues since he was the one I actually purchased them from.

I had one of my VB3's crack and they replaced it without hesitation. All they asked is that I send them the old one back and I had the new rim in less than a week. They are a stand up company as far as I'm concerned.
