did the research cant find the trigger for the code, even worse there are multiple listings for P1724 between different brands.

Anyone.......?..Anyone?..........Bueller?

If it happened just once, you do not have any problems with your car, maybe just save it, clear the code, and check it out in a few days again.

yeah happened today so thats the plan i guess. IDK if thisa is realted to the starter b/c the have been failing and i got 6k left on warranty.

The starter is attached directly to the ignition switch and the battery so maybe the code was thrown because voltage was too low (10.287 V)
I'm not an expert and it's just what I' thinking about.

For concerns of fault codes P1724 (STARTER LOCK SIGNAL SHORT CICUIT TO GROUND SPORADIC)
or U0429 (INVALID DATA RECEIVED FROM STEERING COLUMN CONTROL MODULE), check the
coding of the J527 – Steering Column Electronics Module. If the Steering Column Electronics Module is
coded to 732, change to 532 or vice versa. After the coding has been accepted, cycle the ignition key
‘OFF” and back “ON”, and try to clear the fault code(s).

Had that code a couple weeks ago cleared it hasn't been back since seen it on a customers 12cc as well that was a couple months ago they haven't come back eithe

I'm having trouble locating the Steering Column Electronics Module, any help would be greatly appreciated

Under the steering column, near the steering column switch The first photo is for up to 2010 early production date.

Second photo is for 2010 later
