Same here. I was following the mkv forums for almost a year, and knew I wanted a GTI.

Mini Cooper S. I should have bought it, such a better drive than the GTI. But I passed because of a $2k price difference and a very small trunk area.

I don't think post-2011 models have ringland issue.

Sure, it was more powerful and a bit more roomy, but in terms of equipment, interior quality and styling I had to go for the GTi.. no regrets either.
No way the GTI has better interior quality and equipment than the G37. The GTI interior is more luxurious for its price but no way it's better than a G37.

Nice!

I test drove the 2012 Civic SI and I was really digging the 2.4 liter. It was the only other car I was considering but it was never a serious contender.

I had a 350z before my GTI, and I may have let that go sooner than I should have. But I'm way happier with my GTI than I ever was with my Z.

G37s Coupe- It didn't feel quick enough for the power it had
E92 M3- Great car, kinda big for a coupe but in the end it was too much coin

Decided to sell my MKV and pick up a MK6...and part of me actually regrets it. I really wanted something that was a little a little higher end but practical and fun the drive. I like the appointments of the GTi but often times the community leaves a lot to be desired.

Regardless, I enjoy the GTi and I can't really think of anything else in the price range I would want as a replacement right now.

MINI, Golf TDI or another Civic. In the end I didn't get the most efficient car, but the best car. I had a test drive with the TDI Golf and loved it, but after driving the GTI my smile was too big.

Golf TDI, Jetta GLI, were the other close ones.
Distant thoughts were Genesis Coupe, Suzuki Kizashi, Hyundai Veloster and Ford Focus.

Considered a used S4 and a used 135i, but as soon as the wife said "buy new", went for the GTI immediately.
