rain sensor OEM mirror vs. gentex

I'm very interested in doing a rain sensor install but the one problem I have with it is I don't want the OEM mirror. 1. It doesn't have homelink 2. It costs $350. On the other hand putting the rain sensor to the side looks horrible in my opinion. So I've been trying to figure out if there is a way to use my Gentex auto mirror with the rain sensor base. Any one know if it's possible?

I bought my rain sensor mirror for $70. (its out of a salvaged Eos). The only way I can think of doing the gentex both is buying both and somehow putting the mounting frame from the OEM one on the gentex one.

The problem is that the rain sensor mirror mounts to the rain sensor base and its what holds the rain sensor on. Have you seen the guy who used the touran cover for his rain sensor install? It doesn't look all that bad.

Alright, I think I've decided I am going to pursue putting the rain sensor separate from the mirror. Would you possibly measure the dimensions of your rain sensor/mount plate for me? I just need length and width, I'm guessing you could just measure from the outside. I searched a ton of threads looking for someone who has already measured with no luck.

You want the interior or exterior dimensions of the plate? (the plate itself is a doughnut about .5"ish thick.

Both dimensions would be nice.
