GIAC Stage II Software For The Golf R Is Now Available!

Ready to race!

GIAC Stage 2 software for Golf R High Output 2.0 TFSI applications is now available worldwide! GIAC stage 2 for the Golf R works with basic hardware upgrades, while generating market leading power gains, incredible smoothness, and a "drive-by-cable" quality throttle response. This software has solid power and torque gains, in addition to massive "under the curve" power increases, with no overboosting.

*For non-U.S. DSG models, Stage 2 will require an upgraded DSG calibration.

Gains for the Stage 2 Golf R 6MT were measured at 57 horsepower and 57 ft. /lbs. of torque at the wheels, on 91 octane fuel. Hardware used for testing was a Forge Twintake, Milltek turboback exhaust system and Autotech high pressure fuel pump. The factory pressure regulator and intercooler were not changed. Utilizing "Race" mapping (an available software switching option) with 100 octane fuel showed gains of 82 horsepower and 74 ft. /lbs of torque at the wheels.

*Software was dyno tested at the wheels, in four wheel drive mode. Two wheel testing and subjectively corrected crank figures are not comparable.

Dynamometer test results from an MD-500 Mustang dyno are included here. The graph plots power tests (wheel HP and TQ) for a 2012 Volkswagen Golf R. The red line denotes a completely stock Golf R with OEM software, exhaust, intake and intercooler, on 91 octane. The green line denotes the same Golf R with GIAC 91 octane Stage 2 software, Milltek exhaust, Forge twintake and Autotech high pressure fuel pump, on 91 octane. The blue line denotes the same Golf R with GIAC stage 2 100 octane race software, Milltek exhaust, Forge twintake and Autotech high pressure fuel pump. Baseline testing was performed on a 100% factory stock vehicle.

Gains over stock across the entire rev range for both pump and race modes:

Listed below are the stage 2 91 octane gains over a stage 1 car with 100% OEM hardware:

MSRP for the GIAC Stage 2 pump fuel software is $600.00. GIAC's Flashloader Handheld switcher and "stock," race, valet and kill software options are also available for purchase. This GIAC software calibration can be installed by any GIAC authorized dealer via OBD2 port.

** Until December 2nd, 2012, existing GIAC customers can upgrade to stage 2 free of charge (will be a $50.00 MSRP charge after that). New GIAC customers can purchase the stage 2 software for MSRP $550.00. **

I moved to the GIAC stage 2 map earlier this week and the car is much stronger throughout the range and feels silky smooth. I also have the stage 3 GIAC DSG software on too and the combination of the two really give the car a great feel. MAF readings at peak for my car (almost exactly the same spec as the GIAC test R) were 296g/s which is over 30 g/s more than the hammer map I had on previously.

I wonder what the difference would've been if you threw on a Twintercooler, that aggressive of a tune its such a shame its held back by that OEM intercooler.

What are your lambda requests under load?

The OEM Intercooler is still an S3 one but will be added to. Not logged lambda yet, but I will be doing several logs once my lappy is fixed.

Still loving mine... about to see what difference the BSH FMIC does for this file :) Water/Methanol shouldn't hurt either right?

I added a Eurojet FMIC around a month ago, does help and the wmi is a big help.

Only a 16HP increase with stage 1!? I thought Giac was stronger than that. Why are other tuners at 260+Whp stage 1 and 300+WHP stage 2? Are there any other Giac dynos available to compare? I really would love to use GIAC software but not for a 16hp increase.

You are only looking at the peak number, whereas the power under the curve is much greater with Stage 2. Dyno numbers only tell part of the story, and should really only be used as a comparison tool when making modifications to the same vehicle under the same conditions.

There is a reason we hold nearly every performance record for the 2.0T platform. Anyone can claim and manipulate high dyno numbers, but the performance times do not lie.
