Finally getting the opportunity to make my intro!

Hello all. The name is Chris. I am in the Air Force and stationed in SC. I have been on this forum for the past 3 months reading every possible article I could. I finally got the opportunity when I was on leave to finally buy my 2011 Black 2Dr GTI DSG. Bought it with about 17000 about two weeks ago back home in MD. Now that im back in SC I can finally start making my dream sheet for this car. Note that brands and prices are most likely not accurate and there is a good chance that they may change.

I'd personally look into SPM. Ive got 2/3 or their product line, and Very pleased with the products they have.


Seeing that you are in South Carolina, heat and humidity is an issue (similar to Alabama) and the S3 intercooler will not cut it.

Look into their exhaust as well. Its almost identical to Eurojet and cheaper.

MT look for a clutch, DSG...golden

Stage 2 is also where its at. Great power bump. smooths out everything.

Yes the humidity is horrible here(so ive been told only been here for two months). So that is why I chose the Intercooler. Now that I know it wont work ill look for better. I want an IC that will be visible for aesthetics and performance. I did want the stage 2 but since I didnt have the exhaust all worked out yet I was going to wait. Unless I find one. I do have the DSG also I should have included that. Im not fully informed about the clutch. Ive read about it but not enough to know. I have read it goes out typically with the stage 2.

If you have DSG, you can quit reading about clutch issues. Thats only for us Manual transmission guys.




Only IC that is visible from the front is the Forge motorsport one....im still not sold on that one...its close to 800 bucks for the unit, and you still have the OEM unit in the car as part of the system.


That is one of the quirks with the GTI's.

SPM is probably one of the best bets as far as price to performance goes. I believe its $565.00 for a full replacement. See my signature for a link to install thread.


Id go for the downpipe before the catback...that is where the power is made in these cars. Along with a tune.

Stage 2 should be the standard for this car.

Just my suggestion. I feel i am working towards the perfect setup right now. Need sway bars, and the XB and then im gravy for a while.

Stage 2+ is great.

I know I dont need the clutch. But knowing about all they versions of the car is a good thing. I try to read about them all. Even a little about the R.

So I guess the front IC is a no go. Thats fine. Function is more important. I had the DP in mind already. But I had assumed it would be better to wait till i got the whole system before stage 2. If it doesnt matter too much I might as well go stage 2. I had the SPM IC in mind before but didnt think I needed all that. Thanks

That's mainly for us with a 6-SPD MT about the clutches.

As bowers has said Stg2 is an excellent addition to this car and is a lot of fun. I rarely need to drop from 6th to accelerate on the interstate or around town.

I'm trying to set up a date with APR for new clutch and sway bars. I have the DG springs and with some better tires in the spring I'm looking at a fast little corner carver.

Another good place for an upgrade is the brakes too. There are a lot of good articles and threads on the subject.

If you have someone local that has a VAGCOM cable, you can set the brake assist to activate sooner or later. Ive got mine set to activate higher up, so it feels like the brakes are biting a bit more....But yes, they do need to be upgraded. Pads and rotors should be enough.

You MUST have a downpipe to flash to stage 2. that is required.

The full exhaust can wait. I had my stage 2 with DP and stock CBE for a while before I put my magnaflow on.

Anchors do they ride nice? Thats the only thing im curious about. I like the price and that they are adjustable. Just dont know about the ride.
