Coming of of a sweeping turn the back end stepped out a bit. I corrected, but the back must have hit traction because the front swung way further than i thought i corrected for. Jumped up on the curb and took out a sign post. Sheared that section straight out. The bumper is torn to pieces, Styrofoam is broken off and the frame scraped (doesn't look bent thank god), the oil cooler is cracked and the radiator cracked and leaking a little. The underbody tray is ruined.

My hands are freezing, this tow truck is taking its sweet time

Glad you're ok! Could have been far worse.

I'd say you're about 4-5k in damages right there unless your suspension is bent as well.

Technically your insurance will have to pay for the sign as well :(

holy crap your bumper looks like it exploded on impact! that sucks OP hope insurance takes care of you well.

Whoa, that is a surprising amount fo damage, but the important this is you are okay and the car is repairable.

How fast were you going at the time of impact? Was it really cold? I am surprised the sign post sheared like that.

Just be happy that the sign was in the way. Otherwise you might have ended up into that cement wall and those usually don't move like a sign will. Glad you're okay and the damage doesn't look to bad from the pictures. I hope you get it fixed quickly!

Where are you located that you got snow overnight?

Damn that sucks man.

I've found that when the back steps out, the stability control makes it extremely difficult to correct yourself, since its working at the same time I always tend to overcorrect. Glad your OK, I'd agree with the above 4-5K in damage + the sign.

Damn glad youre okay. I had an accident in my gti back in november and that was 5k in damages. Take a look at my I hate deer thread for pics. With that damage I bet your 7-8k plus the sign. I had them color match my side markers when I had my bumper replaced. Where are you with all that snow?

ouch that sucks... :yikes: glad ur safe, but how in the hell is that sign not leaning with just one leg?!! :iono::D
