K04 Turbo Blanket Interest

K04 Turbo Blanket?

Searched high and low for one and decided to work with (not for) a company to build one for us K04 owners.

Who would be interested in running one if proper testing and results were provided? We're not talking about the eBay "catch on fire" universal versions here. We're talking about one built for the K04 (APR, CTS, AWE, etc).

Please post your honest feedback.

I was debating this and wrapping my DP. People kept advising me against it. I ended up having the turbo ceramic coated.

I had a great discussion with someone on GolfMK6 last night about this. He said if the downpipe tubing is already ceramic coated or stainless steel then we can wrap it in the DEI titanium exhaust wrap otherwise there is cause for concern over moisture. I plan to do this to my EuroJet V1 T304 SS downpipe as well now.

I actually haven't received it yet, the K04 specific turbo blanket was built but then they shipped everything off to a shop to have the turbo ported/polished/ceramic coated. I will get everything back in my hands next Wednesday.

My DP is ceramic coated and wrapped in DEI wrap, as is my intake and discharge pipe.
Im in for a turbo blanket assuming a k04 blanket will fit a k03 as well.

Just heard back from them, here is their response:

"I won’t be too sure on that one. I am going to assume yes as I think the manifold is the same and the turbocharger is only slightly larger which will not effect it.

If you have someone you think that could test it out, that would be great. They can pick up the K04 and if it doesn’t work, we can do a refund for them."

I doubt you would see any power gains, just faster spool
I bought a 50ft roll of 2" black DEI wrap for DP
When I wrapped my intake and discharge pipe I went with a 1" roll.
Make sure to buy the silicone sealant and be SURE to wear gloves while handling the stuff and wash your hands and arms afterwards.
