ChrisB's Candy White 2013 Driver's Edition

Oh well, rather than complaining about the wrong car choice, I am about to make some changes to make my choice in car livable. Truthfully, I wish I had gone with a Lancer Evolution X MR, but oh well, it is what it is.

Here it was on Day 1:

Here it was after being inspired by The Rolling Stones - Paint it Black:

Today, I put in an order for some Pilot Super Sports and I also spoke to a Unitronic dealer out of Austin and will be going Stage 1 Plus the first week in December!

I also have a sound system ready to install, but I just need the motivation (and time) to get it installed.

I assume the Uni dealer in Austin is BDTuning? If so, they installed my stage 1+ a few months back. Great guys that really know their VWs.

Whats the plans for your system?

Yes, I am using BDTuning. I am going to ship the ECU to them versus spending 5 hours to drive one way.

As for audio, thus far, I'm planning on using the stock RNS 315,

Connected to a Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.3:

Going to a MMATS HIFI-6150D:

All connected with Stinger wiring:

To some Genesis Profile 16 Components:

and a Boston Acoustics G3 10
<space reserved for photos>

In a DubAudio enclosure:

The audio plans are slightly subject to change. I was going to replace the stock HU, but I really need bluetooth because my sideline job is consulting. For example, the last call I answered while driving was for a $4,000 job. If I had ignored the call, this particular person would have called someone else! Now you understand the importance of good Bluetooth to me.

Negative, mine has the Chinese speakers that come in the Driver's edition powered by the RNS 315.

Ah well good thing you have some Genesis Drivers to replace them with. In case you were not aware, you can recode the RNS315 for low level output (for the dyn amp) and the deck will send out a fairly high strength and very flat signal to your 3sixty. This beats the hell out of the high level output with factory EQ curve.

Yep, I also found that I can turn off the loudness by putting the radio in test mode with the Ross-Tech cable.

Nice car, but I truly don't understand why you have a car you don't want.. Let alone modding it.

I am trying to live with yet another bad decision for once instead of switching to vehicle number EIGHT since 2006. Besides, I would lose close to $10k to trade it in right now. I am also a Certified Public Accountant, and I told myself that it is time to STOP taking depreciation hits just because there is something that I do not like about a vehicle.

On a positive note, it's a good commuter car, and I needed something with an automatic transmission to get me back and forth to work due to a left knee issue. My main complaints about it are lack of grip and underwhelming performance. I figure tires and a re-flash should make it a little more liveable. If not, I will add a used sports, muscle, or rally car to the stable!

From 2005 to 2010 I generally owned two vehicles just for myself, and will probably go that route again. The GTI will be a practical daily driver and the second vehicle will be my toy.

So, until I change my mind again or have another influx of extra cash, that is why I am modding the GTI versus trading it immediately. I also just figured out my last quarterly estimated tax payment, so that weighed in on my decision to keep versus trading.

Sorry, not doing APR. My local dealer ruined that for me all together!

EDIT: Besides, I like the fact that Unitronic will allow me to purchase a flasher and upgrade my tunes if I decide to add parts down the road!
