What's different about the CCTA vs. CBFA water pump? Have the bulk of the failures been on the CBFA engine?

I understand that the CBFA engine is designed for states with stricter emissions requirements, but I'm a bit confused why that would require a different water pump design.

It appears this service action excludes the CCTA engine based on everyone with a CCTA engine not seeing their vehicle show up in the database.

2011-2014 Water Pump Recall Incoming

My pump went at 71k on my 2012 CBFA DSG.. Last weekend!

Look at the date.. 8/4 in. 8/6 mine came back positive on the vin check. Hopefully they refund me.

At least one difference is an extra sensor in the housing, I assume for measuring coolant temp. The CBFA pump has it, but the CCTA pump doesn't. Not sure if there are any other differences.

My 2013 GTI came up with the 19K5, and it already had its pump replaced at about 12k. (40k now)

2014 DSG Wolfsburg w/ 8.8k miles, no issues with the pump yet. Plugged my VIN into the recall page and it popped up. Will probably see what revision they're using to replace the pumps with and if its newer then BG or the metal one I'll probably bite the bullet. Better to be proactive then let it blow up on me at 3am on my way home from work.

I've had mine replaced at 12k and 30k. 14k on the "BB" pump, so I'm gonna wait and see.

I just had mine replaced about 2 weeks ago. I'll have to check if my car is still on the recall list.
I doubt it and that's ok with me. Unless the newest pump isn't the one that ends in bG or whatever I got.
