Second GTI First Build.

So I got an email from the dealership this morning (Feb 22nd) congratulating me on having bought
my car a year ago today. I figured in tribute, even though I don't really think I have much of a build,
I would make a build thread. I have spent years and years on this forum even though I wasn't
active until I bought my car, I have come across a lot of great information. I will do my best to
link mods to posts on them to help others find the same information on the subject that I have.
All links are bold.

First car tornado red dsg mkv RIP

Got into an 07 RX8 after selling the wrangler my dad made me get.

Melted two cats in 13 months in the RX8, so sold it and got back into a GTI.

Current mods:

Power/drivetrain-

APR Carbonio stage 1 intake

APR stage 2 tune (catless file)

Blu-Pearl ported and polished exhaust manifold
(waiting to find time to install)

BFI stage 1 dogbone mount insert

SPM catless downpipe

Akrapovic catback with linkpipe

Dieselgeek short shifter

Cut down shifter shaft

VCDS: steering angle sensor set to inactive
(stability defeat ) (when reactivating the sensor, you must drive 1-2km
before it will turn stability back on and the light off.)

VCDS: Brake Assist value set to 0

Stoptech street performance pads (front and rear)
(Scrub speed fairly well, but still want something with less fade)

Modshack low profile engine bay trim

Lightweight battery relocated to trunk (improves turn in)

Clutch Masters FX350 from Ringer Racing

Suspension-
If you haven't read WhiteJames' suspension reviews on the
mkv forum and you care about handling you really should.

Here and here

DG springs

Bilstein B8 shocks

SPM rear sway bar (hardest setting)

SPM front sway bar (hardest setting)

Superpro anti lift kit

Powerflex front position front LCA bushings
(figured I'd get them while I was messing with front suspension and bushings.)

Hankook Ventus V12s 235F 245R
(in love with the staggered tires)

Interior-

Interlagos wrapped doorcards and center arm rest

3M brushed aluminum vinyl wrapped trim
(redid this with sterling silver metallic vinyl, was unsatisfied, redid with brushed titanium vinyl will post more pics when I find time.)

VCDS: gauge sweep, windows down with key fob, fogs on with
highbeam, other stuff I forget

Rear headrests removed(drastically improves rear visibility)

Euro cup holder (bought from buychina)

MK7 golf ball shift knob

Exterior-

Eds rep xenons (option 1) (installed trying to find time to take pics

Depo R tails

Interlagos vinyl rear badge insert and wheel cap vinyl bits
(I'll get the resin one later)

Clear plasti dipped front VW emblem and GTI badge
(resprayed this, 2 really heavy coats isn't enough to hold up to washing and bugs)

Debadged the hatch

Black grill stripes

Plans(All input is appreciated):

Was going to do the Polarbear radiator mod:clap:
but upon looking behind the grill the air channeling seems improved from
mkv to mk6. Cool mod for any mkvers but I deem it not worthwhile on mk6s

Cleaning my seats
(didn't realize how dirty they were until I wrapped my door cards)

R32 undertray
(to keep my engine bay clean, and get 1/4 mpg better)

Color matched markers (front and rear)

Sand and paint rear diffuser, sideskirts, and front lower honeycomb black

Thanks man, I appreciate it.

I got my catback used off a guy in cali. The tips were a bit rashed on the bottom, I'd say they're about 75-80% perfect, if you want to trade just straight up I'm down. I've considered clear coating them to make the carbon pop more, but eventually I want to gloss black the plastic diffuser, and I think the titanium tips would stand out better.

Build thread is off to a great start! Were you the one that bought Anton's exhaust?

Thanks man I appreciate it, and I believe so, yes.

I completely agree, I love my car but the one thing I hate is that even with everything I've done to my car and yet it looks bone stock. (I'll get whole car shots up when I have a chance to clean it, but it's raining all week here.)

Your exhaust video is both hillarious and effective... ripping laps and squeeling tires around a parking lot... then there's the random guy squatting under a tree in the middle.

Exhaust sounds good, just a little blatty, might be because you are catless.

I assume the Akra is 3", then splits into 2.5" diameter at the Y ?

The Akra is actually 2.5", the SPM downpipe reduces from 3" to 2.5" so that it can hook up to the stock catback, and the Akra system is designed to work with the factory. And yea, the guy taking the video and the guy sitting by the tree are my friends.

Nice build thread man. I seriously love the door card wraps. I don't know that I'm skilled enough to take that on, but I want them in my car.

Thanks man, I've got a thread on it that I linked in, but it was a bit of work. If you ever make it down to Florida, I'd do it for you.

I'll have to talk you up on that offer if I ever make it down that far, quite a trip for me though. Your thread has been quite useful though. Gonna go order some of the upholstery cleaner from amazon, my seats look pretty much like you're did. It'll be nice to have them clean again.
