different turbine version of the "IHI K03"

Ready to race!
Looking to get build a hybrid IHI JH5 and studying the Turbine wheel and compressor wheel size I found that it look like the
IHI JH5 from CDNB, CDNC, CAEA, CAEB, CFKA audi part number 06H145702Q and L from EA888.2 use a different turbine wheel that all the other IHI JH5 from EA888.1 engine.

The IHI JH5 from EA888.1 Use a turbine wheel of 45mm/41mm 8 Blade and compressor of 40.2/52.5mm 6+6 Blade

But the 06H145702Q and L use a different Turbine wheel of 52mm/44mm with only 7 Blade!!!!
You can see the 7 blade on many picture of the CHRA of this turbo
and two website that sell the turbine for that turbo have this measurement.

I'm a bit confused and I have by mail to turbo rebuild to confirm me those spec's.
This turbo should be a lot less restrictive on exhaust side so with a new bigger compressor wheel it should be able to make more power at top end?
What do you think?

https://turbopower88.en.made-in-chin...aft-wheel.html

her you can see again that it is a 7 blade turbine:

My car is vw T6 TSI that also got this "IHI K03" or IHI JH5.
I can't fit plug and play a K04-064
I have this 7 blade version with supposed to be 52/44 mm turbine
I have two of those turbo I will open it next week to double check.
I'm thinking now to get the Compressor housing milled to fit a IHI VF54 Billet wheel 44.9/58mmm with extend tip of 61.8mm. If that turbine is really less restrictive.
https://www.ebay.fr/itm/Turbo-Bille...F5-VF54-44-9-58-6-6-Performance-/262962536216

Building a kind of hybrid close to a K04-064
What do you think?

PS: The real K04-064 compressor wheel measurement is 46.39/56.08 and not 46/60mm like APR mention. Just search for OEM K04-064 wheel or people who have picture of real measurement and you will see.
K04 turbien 50/44.5mm 12 blade.
K04 turbine is 12 blade

I found now that the audi TT 8J turbo 06E145702S also has this 52/44 turbine wheel.
I found a russian guy that did some log of G6 GTI oem turbo 06J145713K vs TT turbo 06E145702S.

Look like 0.15 bar extra boost or 20G/s on top end.
May be some room for a bigger compressor wheel?

Sorry it's in russian!
https://www.drive2.ru/l/9700413/
May be more than 25 Hp with porte and polish
It's good budget upgrade for 25Hp ?( cheaper than carbon intake)

I'm running a larger compressor wheel in a ported stock ihi. 43/54... A small bump from stock. I left the turbine alone. I'm see 280whp regularly on 93, saw 300+ in the winter. These number would probably be higher but I'm having some fuel issues.

Upgrading both would probably see some nice gains. I'm going to tune on 93+meth soon, hoping for good results.

With just the upgraded compressor wheel... It still falls off sharply after 5k rpm. Peak boost is 24-25 psi

Did you send the turbo off to someone to have it modified or did you do it yourself?

sent it to Ruben at SocalPorting. Had them do the porting, and added a comp wheel upgrade since it was already there. Also had a full rebuild done as a precaution.

43/54 that is very close to a G7 GTI IS20.
Would love to see your dyno sheet.

Make me confident that I can run a VF54 45.9/58mm or audi JH5 4.0TFSI V8 44.2/58mm with my 52/44mm turbine
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kinugawa...F5-4-0-TFSI-44-2-58mm-6-6-blade-/253175182607

If it really don't work I could get upgraded turbine to VF54 45.7/52.8mm 9 blade
https://www.ebay.fr/itm/MAMBA-Subar...54-Turbo-Turbine-Wheel-45-7-52-8/192962608584

got a vdyno plot. 93 oct + 300cc 50/50 water meth. Haven't tuned for the wmi yet. Hoping for some nice figures once I finish tune and hit an actual dyno. I have inconsistent rail pressure which are causing longer injection times, hurting power. Was still making similar figures before the wmi... it just helps combat high iats for now. Gonna double the spray next week and then tune.

why not just get a used k04 and be done, cheap and easy... or if you really want more get a TTE. or other hybrid, there are alot in europe.

Because if you read my post my car does not have same engine bay architecture as a Golf, Audi A4, Seat Leon.....
My car is a VW Transporter T6
So fitting a K04-064 is not plug and play.
Also in case of visual check from police could get in to big trouble in my country. They could just take the car from me.
So an hybride seams to be the best solution. Total sleeper engine bay look :) :) :)

This how different is my IHI JH5 compressor housing to fit the architecture of my Transporter:

https://tteglobal.com/vw/transporter/t5-2.0tsi/21/tte450-t5/t6-upgrade-turbocharger

Unfortunately that TTE450 for the Transporter T6 loose too much low end for such heavy van they fitted turbine and compressor wheel from a GTX2971.

this one with oem air filter, full oem exhaust, 2 oem cat converter
https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=1428077010699074&id=259283594245094

On my Car it would be easier to fit a Turbozentrum K04/EFR with centered inlet on compressor housing than a K04-064 with that elbow inlet on compressor housing and outlet pointing to the side.

Do you think you need to combat IAT because of too small turbine?

IATs aren't terrible without water meth. Typically still within 5-10° of ambient. I'm running IE FDS Intercooler, which is an excellent IC.

I think the small turbine hurts specifically on the top end 5k-7k rpm, turbo is out of efficiency (blowing hot air) and that's where iats notably start to increase.

Another factor to consider is its still crazy hot here in TX.... Been 95-105° (Fahrenheit) for quite a while now. Very difficult to keep anything cool.

On my car with the IHI Big 7 blade turbine version I get max power at 5900 rpm so almost a 1000rpm later than you.
320 Crank Hp at
That could confirm that this turbine is less restrictive.
I have send my turbo to get a 44/58mm billet compressor wheel with extended tip.
Should be back in a few week.

see my dyno attached it's Crank Hp
Also an other guy's van same max power at 5900. here
