I'm just here to say that I'm now at 316,000 km and the car is still going strong lol.

Installed a new k&n filter on my DIY intake.

Need to do my sparkplugs, brake pads, rear rotors, rear calipers, my parking brake, front bumper, headlights (burn damage on front left) and my rear suspension.

Yes all original Engine and Transmission components. Pretty sure the AT transmission fluid has never been changed either. I'm using a stage 1 AT transmission and engine tune from IE. I drive about 37K a year on average. We will probably replace the engine/transmission instead of buying a new car when it comes to that due to the reliability that we have had. The only major rust we have is in the usual spots on the hatch where the brake light and VW logo are.

Yes, mostly original. Just a few upgrades under the car, like Moog front and rear end links, and upgraded bushings for the original rear sway bar. I'll give it another year or so to do the control arms/bearings/ball joints. I just found some Passat aluminum control arms in Kijiji, not sure if I should get them. I did the first transmission fluid, filter, gasket at about 150k , might just do a drain and fill after 200k.

How much will it cost you to do the control arms, bearings and ball joints... been thinking about doing some of the steering stuff here as well.

The Aluminum Control Arms are great if you are plan on competing or racing but if you are daily driving in the winter beware that the salt brine that Province of Ontario uses can cause the aluminum arms to corrode and weld to the steel ball joint bolts. I had this happen on our Tiguan when I needed to replace the front driver side wheel bearing. I removed the 3 ball joint bolts but the ball joint wouldn't seperate from the control arm. I soaked with BP Blaster and Liquid Wrench for a week and gave up and put the 3 bolts back, I wasn't going to replace perfectly good control arm and ball joints until I had to. Good thing the Tiguan is a bit wider than the Golf, so was able to replace the wheel bearing by disconnecting the swaybar link, turn the steering wheel "out" and shoe horning the drive axle out.

Im not sure, haven't look into that yet. Passat b6 arms are about $150-$200, with other parts and labor, $800-1000, I'm guessing.

312mm Zimmerman cross drilled rotors for the front, Zimmerman blank rotors for the rear, and Akebono Euro pads all around . Fresh oem Dot 4 brake oil. Here is to another 4 years, cheers

My Son is going to Mexico so the Golf is back with me for a couple of weeks. Today, I removed the UM/HEP SRI intake manifold from the Golf, we have been swapping the stock intake manifold in before winter and reinstalling the UM/HEP SRI back in when the weather gets warmer. If you are wondering how we can remove/Reinstall the UM/HEP SRI so fast, it's coz we replaced 5 mm allen screw under the 3rd intake runner with a screw with a bolt head, which makes it easier/faster to remove. The swap is done pretty fast BUT this is prolly the final time. The engine has been super reliable and a recent leak down test shows that the compression is still pretty good in all cylinders (Castrol 5W30 year round) but the milage on the odometer is now getting pretty high so reving the crap out of the engine maybe pushing our luck.

We had swapped out the 5 speed manual transmission for a 6 speed 02Q from a 2012 GTI, the clutch action has been a bit inconsistent when shifting fast. Today I removed the restriction in the clutch bleeder block which slows or soften clutch engagement. Read instruction HERE

Battery went south on me over the weekend. Replaced it with an AMG battery. We'll see how that works out.
