Have an pics of the 255/40r17 NT-01s on the 17x8.5 wheels? I really want to run 245/40 on my 17x8.5, but Nitto doesn’t make the NT01 in that size.
Here is the front tire clearance pics for the 255-40 NT01’s But just realized that is not what you asked.

I can take some Photos. What exactly are you looking for? So I know what kind of angle to take the photo from. I know we had a discussion regarding my tire wear pattern on my NT01’s.

I will be posting my current track wheels and NT01’s up for sale. Going to 18” Apex SM-10’s from the recent group buy. Also have a set of 245/17” Pirelli Takes offs that I haven’t used and need to sell. I need to decide whether I dismount the NT01’s and mount the take offs to sell. Just depends on the interest.

I was more interested in seeing if the 255 was pinched on the 8.5 wheel. NT01s seem to run a little narrow relative to other tires I’ve owned, so I’m hoping that works in my favor. Remind me if you ran spacers with the 17x8.5 ET45 wheels? Also, I’m jealous on the Apex group buy, if I didn’t already have two sets of 17x8.5 track wheels I’d jump on them.

They hold up well for long sessions, but take some heat to get them working. I doubt I’d get 11 days out of them, but I only get 4-6 days out of the NT01s.
I’ve gotten 12-days on my 255-40-17 and have only now just worn away the outer grooves to where I’m down to the two circumferential grooves. Figuring another 8-days maybe more.

Would the GoodYears last longer than the NT01’s? I’ve heard good things about the 3R, but the closest size is a 265-35-18. But that may be a little too aggressive fitment wise. I’m more concerned about the overall diameter. I would take a second slower than R7’s if I can get longer life out of them. NT01’s are not the fastest but they are really consistent over the life of the tire.

How did your NT01 times compare to the R7’s On the M3?

I don’t think the 255’s are pinched. Maybe a fraction. They have worked well for me. Especially after I got tire pressures dialed in. About to have dinner but will take few photos after and post.

No spacers. No issues in the front. Slight rub on the right rear and I have posted a photo of that. I run hard at VIR and it is not something I’m concerned about.

Thanks! I’m on my second set of 225/45r17 NT01s, and am in the process of deciding my next tire/size to mount on my spare wheels.
Meant to update that I ran a 2:14 at VIR last month (2:13 virtual best). Since then I’ve upgraded the stock turbo with a k04 and am aiming for 2:10s, so the additional grip would go a long way.

255 Nitto vs 245 3R on identical 17x8.5 wheels. Maximum width relative to the wheel is almost identical, but you can see the difference in shape.
Hard to compare different conditions, different days, but I’m at about 2:07-2:08 on Nittos, 2:06-07 on 3R, and 2:05-06 on R7 with the M3.

Awesome!! 2:14 is fast. You are wheeling your car hard at VIR. Do you run a GoPro?

I had to cancel my first event in early April due to work. Waiting on a set of shorter springs to sort out my rear ride height. Waiting on my BBK to go into production and then the Apex wheels to ship. My Spring track calendar got messed up due to COVID supply chain issues.

Ive added a Wavetrac and IS38, so my Vmax is going to pickup 8 maybe 10mph Down the back straight.

Nitto doesn’t make a 255-35-18, so I’m looking at R888R’s. Also trying to figure out my rubber options for the 18x9’s.

The shoulder is rounder vs. the squarer profile of the NT01’s. Thanks this is helpful information.
Section widths are very similar.

I think a 265-35 GY 3R will be too much tire on a GTi. Even on a 9” rim.

What camber do you run on the M3 F/R?

Here’s some video from one of the better laps last event.

The LSD will be a game changer on track.

How did you like the BBK at VIR?
Switching from stock floating calipers to the fixed Stoptech ST40 kit was just night and day in terms of pedal feel and confidence. I found myself threshold braking later on both the back and front straight, with better control of modulating trail braking. The BBK was a requirement for me before going bigger turbo, and it just makes a full 30 minute session more enjoyable because I’m not having to stand on the brakes lap after lap. It was definitely an investment, but well worth it to me.
