For that kind of money, for a little more, it may be worth upgrading to a K04 since the turbo is being replaced anyway.

You could shop around for prices but to have a pro shop you can trust do the work seems within reasonable considering everything.

Going ko4 what else would be needed? Would other supporting mods push the price up?
What other mods do you have right now

You don’t technically need anything extra except for the tune which can add a lot.

Things youd probably want to get with a k04 upgrade:
Cold air intake (to handle more airflow needs)
At least a downpipe, if not a full turboback, to better handle the exhaust output.

It looks expensive up front but you can find such things used for a fair price over new

not going to give you hard numbers but a used exhaust should be at least 40% off retail provided the catalytic converter is still in good shape, and an intake shoul dbe able 25-50% off retail depending on condition. look around on the forum classifieds, on facebook marketplace, craigslist, etc... not sure if there are any other options on the other side of the pond but you get the idea.

Shipping and import fees might make it less desirable to buy off this particular forum though as he appears to be in UK.

Another thing you want to consider with a K04 as well is getting the power down. Because it's still a pretty small turbo, that power is going to come on quick, and without the proper mods you'll get a lot of wheel hop. It will still be fun regardless, but to get the most out of it you'll want to do some more stuff like and ant-lift kit, probably some stiffer bushings/motor mounts, suspension, and an LSD. To do all that right is gonna be a pretty penny, but that's only if you want to be quick at lower speeds and be able to punch it

agreed, but they have people selling used parts over there quite often on those platforms. they are not exclusive to the US.

Once we turn on the microchips in the vaccine and everyone becomes a bill gates slave, then the entire world will be the US, and they will be exclusive to the US. Alright time to pack up and move to Florida with the rest of my Sheep dog brethren. /zrickety
