    Because OEM is SAE 75w GL-4 and Motul doesn't make a fluid in that spec (Motylgear 75w80 would probably work, but I've never tried it). I do run Motul 75w-90 in my rear diff and bevel box, though.

    G055512A2 is for the 5 speed manual, G052527A2 is for the 6 speed manual. G052527L2 is not a VW part number as far as I can tell.

    As far as I know, the only way to get the Tyrol ARP bolts is with the Tyrol collar kit. That N10141003 is what 034 includes with their collar kit to replace the WHT000431A, so you should be fine using those.

    An intercooler makes a nice difference with stage 1 too, even if it's not strictly required. Boost will hold better at higher rpm with less tapering off

    It's still my daily, so I'm not really interested in going that route just yet. I'm planning to move to EV in a few years, so maybe I'll go more extreme with the Golf once it's out of regular service.

    IE stage 2, UM Haldex tune, PS4S tires, H&R springs on Bilstein shocks with stock alignment. I haven't gotten the front done yet - I'm going to need a clutch soon, so I'll have all that done along with steel shift forks at the same time.

    In my experience, Vaico parts are the Euro equivalent of Autozone or Advance Auto - total shit. Lemforder have performed as expected. Never heard of the other one.

    Success! Turns out I read one of the diagrams incorrectly and mixed up which wire was the ground. I swapped everything to its correct position and it works perfectly now.

    I double checked all the wiring again - everything matches up and with the radio connected to the harness there's continuity at every pair of connections. I have no idea wtf the problem could be. I guess my next step is to order a bypass harness and see if that sends signals out to the speakers.
