    MK6 Engine Code

Potentially but not necessarily. My understanding is that the updated chain tensioner came out in July of 2012 so it ultimately depends on the date the specific car was manufactured. See, for example, the fourth paragraph of the following source...

    2013 GTI P0171 & Intake Manifold

Based on what appears on the Ross-Tech website, either a defective MAF or an intake system leak could yield a P0171 code. Great job troubleshooting the issue! I'm glad you were able to reconcile it.

What did you do to your MK6 today?

The Graf water pump that I installed in my car leaked after 12,437 miles. I realize that it's a sample size of one but I had anticipated it lasting longer than that. My original OEM plastic one lasted 88,727 miles and the OEM replacement only lasted 13,193 miles (at which point I installed the...

Looking into a mk6 golf gti as my daily driver

Post #57 of this thread provides great insight on the parts, tools, and available resources associated with this job. I used that reference when I completed the job on my car earlier in the year.

Washer fluid in tail light lens!

I noticed a large amount of condensation in both of my tail lights 4.5 years ago so I removed them, dried them out, and applied silicon sealant. This worked for one tail light but not the other so I eventually just replaced both of them with a set of aftermarket ones.

Golf MkV! Navigation and Communications Upgrade

I suggest that you go to the In Car Entertainment, Electronics, Navigation, Pho forum and review the information provided there on this topic. That's the foremost resource that I used when I installed a RNS-315 navigation head unit and reverse camera in my car.

What did you do to your MK6 today?

The car started exhibiting a noticeable vibration and noise in the shifter and lower console while stopped in Drive that would go away when shifted into Neutral. There had not previously been such NVH with the BFI Stage 1 engine and transmission mounts, Spulen dog bone mount, and Racingline...

What did you do to your MK6 today?

I can't speak to its importance and am literally dealing with the installation of a new intake manifold right now (just awaiting the arrival of some ancillary parts). From the ECS Tuning product page: "Along with the updated intake manifold, VW added a third air supply line to the manifold flap...

    Mystery coolant loss

Besides what you list, you should inspect the coolant hose couplers. I have had to replace the one for the lower radiator hose (1K0122291AD), heater hose (1K0122291C), as well as the cylinder head cooling flange (06J121132G) because of leaks. That said, given the volume of coolant that you are...

Massive change in linear throttle behavior after fresh HPFP install

I replaced my HPFP last August and used the same fuel pump pressure fitting mentioned in your initial post. As stated previously, the coned tip helps it to seat and seal properly.

What did you do to your MK6 today?

Thanks for the response. I'm running NGK BKR8EIX plugs (APR tune with K04) and learned a long time ago about the need to pull plugs at regular intervals merely to check the gap. I have been surprised at how much the gap has fluctuated over time.

What did you do to your MK6 today?

Interesting point. I have many Milwaukee tools but decided to go with DeWalt for the right angle drill attachment because the magnet is supposed to be stronger. That said, I don't think one could go wrong with either one.

What did you do to your MK6 today?

I had a minor leak in the vacuum pump a couple of weeks ago so I bought a rebuild kit. There are three long bolts holding the pump on and the one at the bottom closest to the firewall came out with the aluminum threads on the end. I'm no stranger to helicoils but this was challenging due to the...

    Worn Bushings

They're called "stealerships" for a reason. As others have highlighted, find a good independent shop in your area and ask them to have a look and provide an estimate. You'd be wise not to mention what the stealership wanted to replace, nor the estimate that they provided.
