    Marketplace?

Can we get a dedicated marketplace forum yet? I get that there's not a ton of traffic here, but I have some MK8 specific parts I'd like to sell. and buy.

Miss my Mk6 after owning Mk7

I'm trying to wait for the mk8 facelift for sure. Hoping they put the damn buttons back! My 2012 has done pretty well against rust but I've got some now descending from the door handles and the rear hatch logo/handle.

Miss my Mk6 after owning Mk7

Well, I also have a 2020 mk7. It's my wife's DD. It's still a great car but I don't have the same sort of love for it I have for my mk6. One thing about the 7 or the 8 I dislike is the size. My wife's car feels huge to me. I sat in a Mk8 at the dealer today, also feels big. I started my...

Miss my Mk6 after owning Mk7

I wish I had the space and budget to keep the MK6 and buy an MK8.

Miss my Mk6 after owning Mk7

Still driving my MK6. 10/2011 build date, 135K miles. Waterpump never failed but was replaced under warranty when I went in for a carbon cleaning. I like it better than my wife's MK7 for sure. Interior and exterior look better, it's smaller (a good thing), and feels faster/more fun...

What did you do to your MK6 today?

10 years and 120k miles in and I finally installed a hatch pop kit. Also got all of the old LaminX off of the headlights and foglights in preparation for fresh ones that are on the way. Man, what a hassle removing the old adhesive. It took a lot of hours and a lot of Goo Gone.

    Thumper's 2012 Stg 3 Golf R - The Defiant

That knob and boot look fantastic! Matches the blue gauges. That's one think I miss from my MK4, the blue/red dash.

Stock 2012 GTI Base 4dr (Baby Steps)

I thought older models, (like the 2012) required physically opening the ECU to mechanically disable a connection or something like that. After that, any additional updates could then be done through the OBD. Newer years didn't have this issue. No longer offering stage 2? interesting. I...

ROLL CALL: Who is still here from 2010-2011? - even if you just pop in for fun to re-live old GTI memories.

wait...is it THE Thumper? that's a name I recognize being around for a while.

Yes, those are still on my car. Pretty sure they gave me +5 Horsepower.

Stock 2012 GTI Base 4dr (Baby Steps)

I have the APR stage 1 tune on my 2012 GTi. It supposedly removes the limiter but I've only been up to 110 in it. Don't know about the unitronic, but the APR had to be bench flashed, can't do it through the ODBII port. One very easy (and free!) mod you should do to get you started is...

ROLL CALL: Who is still here from 2010-2011? - even if you just pop in for fun to re-live old GTI memories.

Bought my 2012 GTI in November of 2011. Joined in December of 2011. Still check in now and then but it seems like most folks have not much to post about these days unless something breaks. Just bought my wife a 2020 GTI in July, I have yet to drive it. Keeping an eye on the...

    Why ?

A manual RS3 is my dream car. I sat in one at the VW factory when I visited Wolfsburg. That's the closest I'll ever get.

What did you do to your MK6 today?

Haha! I've been driving for 20 years and every vehicle I've owned has been a manual. I taught my wife how to drive stick on my '03 golf and now she refuses to buy anything that isn't a manual transmission.

What did you do to your MK6 today?

oh! forgot to mention...I also brought home a new friend for my MK6 GTI....a MK7.5 2020 GTI which is actually my wife's. Her sister also just got a 2017 GTI, so now we can start our own club.

What did you do to your MK6 today?

Got my hitch installed, for the sole purpose of adding a hitch bike rack. The Draw-tite 24904 is super low profile, bolt on (no drilling), and won't scrape. Got a Swagman Chinook rack for 2 bikes which tilts out of the way to allow hatch access. Bikes lock to the rack, rack locks to the...

What did you do to your MK6 today?

100k service. new struts, springs, sway bar links, brake calipers, all three wipers, inspection. Put on winter tires/rims (just in time for 14" of snow today!) Balance, alignment. Good for the car. Not so great for the bank account.

Stage 2 worth it at 100k miles?

I'm approaching 100k miles on my 2012 GTI. I've had an APR Stage 1 tune with the Carbonio intake (both parts) since 30K or so. I'm thinking about getting the APR downpipe and going stage 2. Call it a little bit of boredom. Also I haven't done anything to the car in a long time, and I've...

    Heated Seat stuck on

It's been 90* the past few days, and my heated seat is stuck on! '12 GTI. With switch in the off position, the heat stays at the low position. With switch at high, medium, or low heat-it's working properly. I do have the heated seat memory enabled via vagcom. So I'll take it to my tuner...
