Honestly I just went through a list of codes until one worked. This definitely fixes the issue as it allow for full 360s e-brake style :thumbsup:

Hello everyone!

Sorry for long post, but i found some interesting informations about defeating the ESP on 2008-2011 Golfs.

I have a european Golf R from 02.2011, so no chance for me appearently to defeat the god damned ESP. Traction control disabled but ESP still on. My pump is a "BE" one...

I did not tried any coding yet. No access to VAG-COM.. And very low knowledge about it.
I'm also a bit afraid to brick my ABS pump..


But here is my complement to the ESP defeat topic from what i found on some german Skoda/Audi forum (i speak german myself a little bit). Parts are the same as our Golfs.

So, the 1-stage or 2-stage ESP defeat does not really depend on the ABS pump version, it depends on the software version coded in it. Exemple bolded bellow:

As explained on the Skoda forum (source link at the end of the post), the Byte 6 and 14 coding, like APR does for 2012+ models is applicable for pumps with software revision 120 and above.

They also explain that the following pump can have there firmware upgraded:

1K0 907 379 AH
1K0 907 379 AS
1K0 907 379 BB
1K0 907 379 BD
1K0 907 379 BF
to 1K0 907 379 BH (SW: 0120)

and

1K0 907 379 AJ
1K0 907 379 AT
1K0 907 379 BC
1K0 907 379 BE
1K0 907 379 BG
to 1K0 907 379 BJ (SW: 0121)


The firmware files can be found at VW's garage.

Unfortunately i have no idea how to update the firmware.

Beware, after upgrading the firmware, all sensors must be recalibrated. Like explained here:

But after updating to the appropriated firmware, these pumps will accept the Byte 6 and 14 coding.


I hope these informations will help some people to finally defeat ESP on their 2008-2011 car. I also hope someone will finally find a proper coding for each pumps.

New member but wanted to give back to the forum. I just bought a 2010 with the AH pump and was losing sleep over the ESP issue.

Happy to say byte 16 = 2C seems to have solved it. Single stage, ESP Off, Solid warning light.
Some might prefer 2 stage but I'm just happy its fully off!

Hi Guys.
I bring some good news.
I juste coded a Golf R mk6 2010
This car has the AJ pump with the below coding as stock.
143B800D092500FC281301E6902000413D0000

I change the byte 16 from 3D to 29. Like below.
143B800D092500FC281301E690200041290000

Now we can turn ESP Off (ESP light ON) Before the ESP was blinking and would intervene when to much slip/drift.

The car is a DSG equipped car with "Hill Hold" and "TPS"
Hill hold is working as normal but TPS is not working. (who cares about TPS right?)

I just came back from a test drive on snow and Ice. Now we can make donuts and drift as much as we like without any problems. ABS braking still work to.

I want to thanks all that contributed to this thread, and helped me solve this headache.

I bought the car used during the summer and got all excited when the snow started to fall... just to be disappointed when realizing that ESP OFF only meant just that.

Researched on the subject while contemplating whether to sell the car on or not... did not feel drivable (like I want it to anyways) compared to the Audi S2's I'm used to...

But, after finding this thread and applying the long coding above (AJ pump as well) I guess I'll be keeping the car :happyanim:

Has there been any updates on the BG coding? I tried all variations today, it shows up on the MFD as disabled but still engages when trying to get the tail to wag a bit...

I have not heard of a solution for the BG pump yet. If you have $100 and some tools, you could buy a different unit and swap it out.
