(2010 Gti) P2196 and P2096 o2 sensor too rich / too lean

Hello! So I have a CEL and those are the two codes I get. I'm stage 2 with an apr tune and have never had this issue until I had a transmission mount installed (I can't do my own work at the moment since I moved out). I'm wondering why this code is coming up now. I also am unable to accelerate past 4k at the moment, so I'm not sure if there is some automated safe mode involved or something. My car actually shut off when I hit 4k and I had to start it again. It runs fine otherwise.

Would this have to do with the o2 sensor spacer? Is the sensor bad? I'm on the right tune as well, so that's not it either. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I've seen p2096 pop up from exhaust leaks in the downpipe, but usually you wouldn't show any symptoms besides the code, smell and sound.

Both those codes will pop up with an improperly installed/angled o2 spacer as well for a tune that doesn't disable cat readiness. These ecus are very picky about that. Did it happen to get moved around at all? In regards to your 4000rpm issue did APR valet mode get turned on somehow?

Thank you! I made sure it was on the proper tune a bunch of times, so that's definitely not it. And a slight exhaust leak would pull these codes? I'm going to look into that. I also don't have a spacer as APR's tune doesn't require it. That's why it's weird I'd pop a code after 2+ years driving around. Appreciate the thorough response!

Oh sorry it just really sounded like a valet mode or something. I dont know about p2196 for leaks but p2096 alone is often a downpipe leak although that wouldn't affect your driving at all. Are you speed limited as well?

Everything is fine, which is weird. Builds boost and drives exactly the same except power cuts off at 4k. Basically like hitting redline at 4k

Nope. Literally no issues. Had my mechanic friend check it out and he has no idea lol I'm going to bring it to a VW specialist/tuner to check it out

Could be a bad MAF sensor. I think I had the P2096 when my MAF sensor went bad or needed cleaning. You can buy one of those MAF cleaner sprays for a cheap possible solution.

I had those codes for the longest time, I bought new o2 plugs like you did and didn't resolve anything. I ended up taking off the downpipe to check and it did have a small crack, so it might be worth it to check the downpipe itself.
