8th Gen Si guys discuss the GTI

When I drove the stock K20 and the GTI back to back... I couldn't believe the difference. It's like driving a completely different car. The K20 was dead below 5k as you said... pre V-tech. And honestly it felt exactly like a normal civic unless you flogged it. The GTI on the other hand felt quick and light the entire time even though its a full 200-300lbs heavier.

When you figure in reliability though... its another ball game. With the civic you just add gas and go till you hit 105k then you get a timing belt and repeat.

K20 has a timing chain. So yeah, oil and gas. Good to go for years and years.

Transmission, on the other hand, is like glass. Mine was replaced 4 times, and in for a fifth when I got the gti. I rarely powershifted. I even got a larger booster and removed the dampener inside the reservoir. Still had problems. and I'm not the only one. There was a huge list that everyone signed to send to HOA. It was ignored. Terrible factory service, terrible local dealer service.

I think there crying to much lol when I had a honda I beat a gti and now I have a mk6 gti and I beat hondas mostly comes down to driver...

It makes me think twice about next time I say anything bad about civic si or civic si owners for that matter. lol not you the Steve42790 on that civic forum. Honestly I've gaine more "respect" for civic si drivers. Well the ones that seem to be well informed about other cars. Reason why i've had past predjudices towards civic drivers is because of people like that Steve42790 guy. Not you Stevenchkim lol.

i've actually been commenting in it lol. cuz this dude claimed with a fully bolt on Si he beat a stage 3 mk5 gti.:lol:

im rizzosi on 8thcivic, i owned a fully bolted on Si before my gti and i can promise it wont even stick with a stage 2 gti. my buddy bought it off me and i destroy him all day.

he can take me for about 5 seconds from a dig since i have no traction, but as soon as i hook up i smoke him. silly honda kids!
