Another APR Carbonio Intake Install---I have a few Q's though

Ready to race!
Hello :) Today I installed my first upgrade to my mk6 Gti.
I put in the APR Carbonio intake and that is all.

When I started it up and it was REALLY loud; like REALLY.
Then after a minute it calmed down and sounded normal {like with the stock airbox} I let it idle for about 15 minutes; took her for a drive and everything seemed fine, no lights came on, no rattles after the initial start up.

Is all of this normal so far?

Also as I was removing the stock airbox, it came out with a small hose that was attached to the bottom? I looked in the engine bay to see what it was attached to, and it looked like it just stuck into a hole with an orange rim. I have the hose out with the air box…. Not sure if it is important…. There is also another hose that came off of the side of the air box, post filter. This is what really made all that noise with the initial start up with the carbonio. It was sucking in quite a bit of air, then stopped after about a minute. Not really sure with that even goes to. I just zip tied it to the side for now. I have the smaller filter attachment that came with the carbonio, could this be where it goes? I thought it went further down the main air tube….

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated :)

And remember I’m a girl!! So please go easy on me…:p

Your TSI is CBFA so that little breather filter needs to go that tube and ASAP cauz it does suck air in at start.

Its called secondary breather filter or something like that lol so it only sucks the air in when u start your car and then it stoppes after like a minute or so, not really sure why its there but all CBFA TSI have it but the CCTA ones dont:iono:

haha okay, thanks again :) Silly germans.

and thanks for the compliment :) It did take me a little longer that i'm sure most guys could have done it though :p But i managed to get it in there nice and straight without any rub on the batter box which was good :D

I installed AWE boost gauge and tap few days ago so i had to take out my intake, battery which was the first time i ever even touched my APR intake since it was a free install at Waterfest this summer. Its not that bad but for a girl to do something like that is  in my book!!!

You rock girl! I haven't met ANY girl that's not afraid (or interested) in touching her engine! Don't worry about that small tube, unlike the carbonio, the stock intake has a small water drain hole. I freaked out the first time I took out my stock air box too haha. And the loud noise is totally normal, it's only at startup

cook thanks :) i got everything all worked out now. the little filter is on that random tube like its supposed to be, but i still don't know what the other one was to the right {via facing the engine and box} it was kinda just placed inside this little hole with an orange rim..and it just kinda came out with the box..

hope it wasn't important =\ lol. maybe its the water drain you were talking about?

also, in order to get my "free" oil changes under waranty--do i have to put the stock box back in?? or do they not care?
{im' pretty sure my dealer freakin loves me to death and they do just about anything for me but just to be safe}

This is just me, but I would just remove it and but the stock one in when you need to bring the car in for maintaince. The last thing you want is them saying o your aftermarket intake has caused "....." & "....." and because you modified it, the warranty doesn't cover it.

Yeah, people will say well there is a law or something that says the dealer must prove that the modification caused the damage or something, but in my opinion i rather not go through the hassle and just take the extra 30 minutes or however long to swap it out.

Bah, I'm going in with my intake and downpipe, unles you hit them with a problem they can't say anything. If it's just for an oil change, they will just do that and that's it.

+1

The worst than can happen with the intake is an over oiled filter crapping out the MAF. Reinstalling the original intake everytime would be a PITA.
