Hi, I was wondering if anyone has remapped there TSI 160 yet with DSG box. There is various tuning companies claiming remaps from160 to anywhere between 195 to 215BHP depending on various other small modifications.
I would love to here from anyone with the DSG box who has got the mod done, can you notice the difference, is the pull low down any better considering 60 NM gain of torgue, and does the DSG box inhibit the potential?

Mr Gee, many thanks for the link to the thread on performance gains, it was really well composed by "logger" in particular, don't think I have ever seen any blog with so much detail.
I am converted, I believe the tune will definetely improve the drive and performance. I am going to check out APR tuning and see if they are available this side of the world. It was interesting to here that somhow, not sure exactly how the guy with the remap was able to switch between while driving, never heard of this? Thought all maps were changed via the OBD or ECU?

THANKS AGAIN, GREAT THREAD!

Mr Gee and all TSI 118KW/160BHP owners, have you tuned your MK6, who did you personally use. APR are based in the UK, I am in Ireland, however there is loads of tunning companies who offer the tune, Upsolute.com are available in Ireland and many other countries, they offer 35hp/60 NM gains. Check out the below link:

http://www.upsolute.com/index.php?option=com_upsolute&task=car&id=3168&id_marke=6&id_model=13512

The main difference with this tune V's the APR tune is the availability to change between stock and Stage 1 map. I would like to here the opionions of other tuners.

I have also spoke to Milltek in the UK who have developed a performace exhaust system for the MK5 GT170. They have not ruled out developing same for the MK6, but have no plans just yet! Seen the upgrade on youtube, nice sound and performace enhancement, thought I would add the link for ye all, although not related to this topic is a modification!

Hope to here from any tuners!

I've been looking at Milltek too - can't find what sort of gains a remap + exhaust on the GT 160 give though....would the exhaust be another 5bhp ?

I'm personally looking at Superchip's Bluefin.
I've used Superchips before in other cars and had no issues with their programming.

Just a little cautious atm cos the dsg is rated conservatively compared with whats on offer by the tuning companies.

Agreed. One of the guys on Another site returned his BF as he felt it didn't suit the dsg. I've had my mk5 mapped by Superchips for 4 years / 70000 miles with no issues at all so BF is a serious contender once my car arrives and has done a few K

Still think the APR tune is best suited as it was developed with the dsg in mind, wouldn't worry about the mechanical load, they would of designed it above and beyond the normal load of 240NM.
Found an upgrade exhaust system for MK6 tsi from Volkswagenracing.co.uk. Will contact them tomorrow to see how much and any youtube vid's. 5 power gain.
Seen a video on youtube of 0-180 with remap for MK6 TSI, looks quite aggressive. Have to go now so will link tomorrow.:happyanim:

I gave the guys in Volkswagen racing a call and spoke with Matt! There is a great upgrade, a complete pack for 1,500 pounds, it includes remap, complete exhaust system(cat not replaced), and performance filter.
I don't know why they state the 185bhp, this is incorrect, volkswagen racing actually use the bluefin upgrade, its specially designed with endurance in mind thus they offer a full certified warranty to coincide with the manufactures warranty(Doesn't get much better than this!). So the gains are 35bhp and 66NM of torque!
With the complete kit the upgrade gives a total output of 200BHP, with most of the power in mid range. The maps are designed to work on the Turbo and not the charger, please see attached stats supporting this

http://www.superchips.co.uk/curves/VAG14TSI160PS.pdf
And for all you out there wondering what it looks like, I have a picture of the upgraded car, sweet! Tasteful and sutle R badge to finish the car off!

Thanks to Volkswagenracing UK!!!

Don't you think that's alot of money ? £400 for a map? £50 for a panel filter ? Leaving £1000 for the exhaust for 5 BHP ??!!

Also, the gains you mention of 35bhp/66nm are for
the map only - I'd be interested in what extra the exhaust gives. Otherwise it looks pricey for aesthetics

I never said it was cheap! The price quoted is for fitment and warranty, without you can have the kit for approx 1050 pounds.
The Bluefin remap is 587.23, not 400! Depends on what you want? I see so many crying about there warranty atleast with this upgrade you get the 2 Year warranty which coincides with the manufacturers warranty!
I plan to call into VKR and see what kind of a deal can be struck!
My car is on order from the UK(not available in Ireland)

The guy in VKR was quite honest, also tested the APR upgrade and said it was quite good! Remember though, these maps are designed to work with the Turbo and not the charger!

When is your car ready?

True - JKM do the bluefin for £339.13 + vat... Even with vat at 17.5%, that's a touch under £400. The figure you mention of £587 odd seems very high...

A warranty is definately good - depending all the small print of course :)

My car is due UK week 4 or 5 but I'll take delivery 1st March...

I see APR is £499 - not sure if that's plus vat or not but will give 203bhp on superunleaded or 197 on normal....
