I've got a 118TSI here is Aus and APR'd it to give it 151kw. I love it and highly recommend it. Lots of extra urge everywhere, which is fun when giving it the beans but actually makes it easier to drive day to day.

All I can say is, "APR, where is the Stage 2?"!

Thanks - the APR map seems excellent but it's considerably more expensive than Bluefin here. I see that there is an option via the cruise to put the car back into standard mode. What happens to the map if the car has to go to the dealers and they need to update the ECU ? Does the map get wiped ?

There is a possibility the dealer could wipe the APR (or any) flash. If this occurs you can simply go back to the distributor to get the flash again at no charge (some distributors might charge for this). This has never occurred to me and I have a MkV Jetta that has been flashed for over two years and has services.

That's what I thought - the issue ( apart
from the extra £185 cost of the APR map ) is that I'm about
40 minutes away from my nearest dealer. With bluefin, I'd get a handset and so could return to standard for dealer trips. And my nearest dealer is 5 minutes away....

I've never tried Bluefin before so I cannot comment on whether its good or not. My last MK5 GT was on MTM and the experience was wonderful.

Not only did it sort out abt 85% of the low-end jerkiness the 6-spd DSG tends to suffer from, the map allowed the little 1.4l engine to go all the way to 7,200 rpm in one linear sweeping motion. Very very smooth power delivery.

That said - the linearity may not suit those looking for a "shove in the back" feeling.

i'm not looking for " the big wallop ", no. My mk5 has a Superchips map and is running 191 bhp / 366 nM torque which isn't that much but its so much nicer to drive than standard. I do about 18000 miles per year so need reliability

Did you collect your new car? What colour did you choose! Let us know when you will remap! Looking forward to hearing some positive feedback!
For me, I am one of those who do prefer the big power whoolp, but don't think the TSI engine is about that! The DSG is too smooth anyhow, my friend has the R32 and the power delivery is completely liner all the way through the gears! Step into an M3 with SMG, and my god you feel the whoolp of power, the gear box is aggressive and loud, personally my favourite!

Ready to race!
isn't the R32 just a straight 6? Thats why it would be linear...
