APR Stage I Question

Hey all, had a question about the stage I APR tuning. I tried to call local dealer and APR but it's Saturday and they are closed, and the sale ends tomorrow (Sunday!) so I can't call to get an answer to my noob questions before I miss out on the sale.

I was curious which particular stage I to buy from these:

http://www.goapr.com/products/ecu_upgrade_20tsi_trans.html

As far as the engine code goes (CAWB, CBFA, CCTA, etc), I have no idea which is the correct one to pick for my 2012 GTI.

Also, I want to buy it online from APR's website (again so I can make it before the sale is done), will it cost additional to get it installed at a local APR shop? I mean, do you literally get a chip mailed to you, then bring it to the installer and have them do it?

I know some of this is so noob you guys are laughing, any help would be appreciated, and I did read around and try to look for answers on the forum, and obviously tried to call a shop and APR with no luck. Thanks

There is only one stage 1 tune for your car regardless of the engine code. Stage 2 adds a downpipe. They have to physically open up your ECU unlike on other cars, so you need to go to an APR dealer or mail your ECU to APR. Different shops charge different labor rates.

Here we go again. Sigh.
Doesn't matter. You don't need to choose. Your installer will figure all of that out. No a "chip" isn't mailed to you.

Schedule appt. show up. Pay them. They do the rest.

Cool, thanks for flaming me while not even answering what I was trying to figure out. I am well aware of what stage I is, and that stage II requires 3" downpipe, I wasn't even asking that. I know that I pay for it, and a shop does the work. That's not the main thing I was trying to find out. I know all that and more from these threads:

Which are stickied up already. And we all know how well the search feature works here, miracle I didn't find what I was looking for. At least thanks for answering the part about the engine code...... Other than that, thanks for all the help! *sarcasm* Well I guess I will drop the $$$ for it so I don't miss the sale and hope that it just works out the way I think it does.

Are you talking about which programs? If you're doing it before the summer sale, might as well load up with 4. I got stock, 91 oct, 93 oct, 100 oct tunes.
I was dissuaded from choosing the security lockout feature, by the shop as someone had recently been locked out of something and it sounded kind of inconvenient.

As for telling what type of engine you have. If you open the hood, and look on the left hand side just underneath/beside the engine cover on the side, there's a bar code and serial number, with either CBF or CCT. Or you could just check if your stock airbox has a hose sticking out of the front.

If it doesn't, its a CCTA.

You don't have to pick, you just tell them you want to get the stage 1 tune and they will do it for you.

You cannot buy it from APR's website and then get it installed later. You have to buy it and get it installed before the sale ends. At least, that's what I was told when I spoke to apr shops. They will take your ECU out, put hook it up to their computer, and put it back in. If there are no dealers around you, you can mail your ECU in. Some places charge an installation fee, some do not.

Thank you Austin and jmdeis11 for your responses, it clarifies what I was wondering. I left a message with the shop today, I hope I can still get the deal since it ends on Sunday. I think that's unfair it ends on Sunday when there is no options for me to get the deal over the weekend.

The sale ran for more than a month. What is unfair there??? If it ended last Friday, you would be unhappy because it did not run another week?
You have two options:
1) pay the full price (if impatient)
2) wait for the next sale, in a few months (like I did when I missed the spring sale)

If I were a business, and the goal was to be successful, I'd probably take your money, and honor the deal. Otherwise said customer could be lost to a sale with Uni or GIAC.

Wow, a lot of mean and unfriendly people on this site I'm finding out. Did you think that maybe I just found out about the sale on Friday night? I just dropped $$$ on stage 1 & 2 intake yesterday and I'm about to drop $600 on the ECU also... I'm only dropping that much cash at once so I can make the sale. It's not like I saw the sale running for a month and was like "naw I'm gonna wait to the last second just because". No need to be a jerk about it. If it ended last Friday then bummer, I missed it. But they have the sale running this weekend with no way for me to buy it?

Thats why I'd imagine they would honor that. If not, just tell them you'll take your business to the competition. It's an opportunity for them to build brand loyalty, and if they don't want your money take it to someone who does.

I am not trying to be mean.
I am realistic. Same thing happened to me, as I mentioned. I purchased my vehicle March 25 and the sale ended on the 28th or something like that. It was also Sunday.
I talked to APR about it and they suggested the two options I passed onto you.
Why would you expect them to extend the sale for you?
You can try, did not work for me.
Not a big deal, got it this time...

Even if they don't honor the sale it'll be okay. Fall Sale and Christmas discounts just around the corner. Or go with a different tuner. Im sure you could find plenty of other worthwhile things to throw your money at (tails, CAI, tires)..

You'll survive  Just wait it out.

Buuuuttt, if I were them I'd take your money with a smile on my face.
