Black Forest Industries Catch Can V2 information thread

Seriously look at it. Would you just look at it!? Our Clean Catch Oil Separator functions as good as it looks and without removing the factory PCV. This gives you multiple lines of defense against carbon build up while elevating the look of your engine bay rather than detracting from it.

Our brand new Version 2 design features a perforated cylindrical baffle to maximize the amount of surface area while still allowing air to circulate freely. This allows all harmful oil vapor to collect on our cylindrical baffle, and ultimately drain into the can and not the back of your intake valves.

Our new upgraded heat resistant braided hoses give an additional layer of protection and durability as well as make for an extremely OE+ look. Their woven look, complete with white detail is as factory as it gets.

In addition to all of our new functional upgrades we have also added the ability to customize the look of your car by adding additional anodized hardware. You can now select from a large range of colors that compliment your build and give that perfect appearance.

We were the very first company to offer actual OEM hose connection, direct from the supplier who makes them for VAG. We employee a proprietary method to mount them to our hosing to ensure and exacting fit every time, with no third party or unnecessary aftermarket solutions. In this instance there was no need to reinvent the wheel, so we designed our kit around what already existed.

We have also changed the way our can mounts to our proprietary bracket, now with a bolt in fit, rather than using the can lid to mount. We feel this still efficiently and succinctly solves the task and also gives an attractive six shooter / revolver impression.

Hot damn, that's a pretty catch can. Kinda wish I hadn't already bought an ECS can.

Beautiful looking setup. I've waffled on a catch can a few different times, but always end up talking myself out of it and in to something else :(.

Freezing shouldn't be as much of an issue with ours as we do not remove the entire PCV system.

However, during winter time, you will have to tend to it more. Easiest way is to purchase a syringe and suck up any of the fluid inside the can. Other people have used oil extractors as well and it's a very quick process.

Thanks for the link. The kit looks top notch quality.
I do have an observation though... This kit will not provide any vacuum to the crankcase while idling. I ran a very similar setup on my GTI and it caused smoking at idle and oil consumption which I did not have prior. The intake tube doesn't provide vacuum at idle.
That is the whole purpose of the design of our pcv system. It uses manifold vacuum at idle and ported vacuum during boost.
It is possible to have a single catch can and have proper pcv operation at idle with a few simple check valves. I don't understand why nearly all catch can kits provide no manifold vacuum at idle.

Hi, using the intake inlet does cause less suction than the manifold like you said, but it doesn't eliminate it. We've not have had a problem with our system causing smoke or oil consumption at idle. Generally speaking, if that is an issue, it's due to the OEM PCV system having an issue expelling gases from the head. In that case, the PCV system would need to be repaired / replaced.

Thank you to those that have ordered and waited, we really appreciate you. :)

Catch cans are here and most back orders have been filled. For the next few orders there will not be that long of a wait. After that, there will be a 2-3 week lead time. :)
