Boscogn's Build Thread

Boscogn

Go Kart Champion
Hi Folks,
Nothing crazy yet. Just wanted a place to list the mods I want and have done. I'll be posting any DYI links to mods I've done and maintenance schedule I follow.
THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS

The Car:
CSG 2013 VW GTI MK6 DSG 4DR -Driver's Edition
Car brought home from the stealership.

The Plan: I want to keep this car a Daily Driver and OEM+ as much as possible. I won't be getting exhaust or going past a Stage 1 tune. I also don't want to murder out the car just want a few slight touches here and there.

Maintenance Schedule:
The Schedule

Changes to above schedule:
Oil Change every 7.5k miles stock and will change to 5k miles tuned.
Spark plugs and Fuel Filter every 40k miles.
Carbon cleaning every 80k miles. If you sit in lots of traffic a lot or you drive mostly under 3k RPM, I'd do a 50-60k mile interval.
Oil additive every 30k miles.
Will no longer replace air filter once I have CAI and will just clean instead.

Parts List:
Liqui Moly Oil
Liqui Moly Oil Additive
Mann Oil Filter
Mann Cabin Filter
Mann Air Filter
Mann Fuel Filter
NGK Iridium IX Spark Plug BKR7EIX
DSG Service Kit -Also it's a good idea to pick up this FUNNEL.
Front Set + Rear Bosch Windshield Wipers
StopTech Street Brake Pads

Sub'd for when you get some pics up :)

I like that you are staying OEM+. Going beyond stage1 is totally driveable and doable on a daily. I daily my K04.

Looking forward to what you do here.

No doubt. I'll have to start smog in a couple years and live in CA. So that's really why I'm not wanting to go past stage 1.

Edit: Speaking of which you think engine and tranny mounts is overkill on stage 1? I was also thinking about dogbone.

Smoked side markers installed

With stock side marker light

With deAutoKey Universal Amber side marker LED

Not sure if you can tell by the photos but stock was almost off white looking which is what the bulb is. deAutoKey LED brought the amber back I was looking for.

I think street density mounts are good even on stock tune. Have you seen how much movement/play there is when these cars are on a dyno? I mean, it rocks pretty bad. Anything to tighten that up is going to help you lay down more consistent power.

Added them to the list. Whilst I can wot with a single finger on the steering wheel I know the movement you speak of and hoping it will make my launches smoother.

My last pair of wiper blades were rain x beam blades and they weren't very good. Went back to Bosch oem and prefer them alot more.

Added a Uniden DFR7 radar detector and hardwire kit. I bought the mini fuse add a circuit then realized i should of bought a regular add a circuit and not the mini. Most people use fuse 41 which are the regular fuses. I had to hunt down my mini fuses to find one that powered on with the ignition. Turns out fuse 2 does this that fits the mini add a circuit.

Those deAutoKey front amber bulbs look good. Might have to look into a set for mine.

Aluminum handle installed

Edit: I also just wanted iterate here that this mod is a huge pain in the ass. Not recommended. If you must have it. USE a STRONG magnetic screwdriver and KEEP your key in the lock cylinder so the tumblers and their springs don't go all over the place. Also DON'T do this whole thing on your seat as your battery will die before you're done. Remove old handle and save screw. Take lock cylinder out in a location that will be easy to find tumbler springs should they come out. Put lock cylinder in new handle and replace handle and screw in.

Replaced rear brakes. I kept telling myself I still got a lil left but back side of brake was already metal to metal.
