Has anyone tried the spacers with the mini cats on them?
FWIW I think the catted o2 sensors are ~$60 each
I finally got back under my car this past Friday to change my O2 spacers around and noticed a ton of carbon buildup at the first clamp on my SPM downpipe, as well as around the slip clamp where the downpipe connects to the exhaust. I fixed both of these connections and re-did my spacers so that the first O2 sensor has no spacer, and the second has the Vibrant J-spacer with the medium insert. My CEL went off the next day and hasn't come back since (300 or so miles later).
-Engine: CBFA
-Downpipe manufacturer: SPM
-Catalytic converter: 200 cell, O2 ARE same distance from cat
-o2 sensor 2 (pre cat): None
-o2 sensor 3 (post cat): Vibrant J with medium jet, facing front
-Result: No CEL for 300+ miles
If you're CBFA (Like me) you'll have all 3 sensors and a far more tricky car.
You'll need 2 spacers, one on #2 and #3.
A proven spacer setup that has worked for multiple people for thousands of miles etc and which I'll be using is:
Black Forest Industries spacer on spot #2 FACING engine.
Vibrant Performance J-Spacer (Part #11619, can buy on eBay)
Which has 3 inserts of different sizes for different exhaust flows.
With this in spot #3, run a spark plug non-fouler FIRST (Can buy these at pepboys, autozone etc for like $4) THEN with the SMALLEST insert in the Vibrant spacer, screwed into the non-fouler FACING the engine.
Has been proven to work for multiple people for well over 5-10k++ miles.
So with GIAC, o2 readiness is ok, but CEL just gets deleted?
Found this on vortex as well.
Just got my SPM catted downpipe today.
Will be going GIAC stage 2.
CBFA Motor.
I take it I need to at least buy 1 Vibrant/RAI J Spacer?
