You know you want to do it. 😏
I do and I don't.

I was 100% gonna do the short gearing kit and LWFW at some point, just to make it a little bit snappier.

My buddy down here with the DeMan GT4 (he actually has 2 of them, one is a ClubSport) was ALL about me doing the DeMan kit. Then he bought a regular 718 Spyder to bop around in... and came back with, "Don't change a thing, it's perfect." His opinion was enough that I even canceled my SpyderRS allocation.

Maybe at some point I'll do it after my LLC does a little more biz.

Am I googling correctly?????? A deman 4.5 is.....$50k????

????

???????????

Not far off. Tho last time I price checked it, $50k-ish included the gearing.

The gearset was ~$9,500... plus labor.... all-in $13k-ish or so. My prior knowledge said the motor alone was $35k...

Wait holy shit you did a DeMan 4.5L?!

I need to check-in here more. Did you have them give you the updated M-Engineering tune that no longer requires Boostane?

I know two people who have done that motor on their 718's. Supposed to be phenomenal. My buddy Mark here has it (along with the gearing upgrade) on his GT4 and he keeps bugging me to drive it... but frankly, I'm avoiding it on purpose because I don't need to drop that kind of money right now.
Indeed I did. Rick has a 91 and 93 tune. Eventually I’ll get an M-engineering pro tune, but I had to break it in before it can go on the dyno.

The motor conversion is $35k. Mine didn’t need gears since the 7-speed manual is shorter already. It did cost $50k though because I replaced a lot of stuff that had over 100k miles on it. Since the engine was out I only paid for parts essentially. Oil pump, water pump, hoses, alternator, starter, vacuum pump, cam phasers etc. Essentially, it’s a completely new motor. All in I’m at $107k for car and everything. There’s no manual Porsche available that can come close to this. PDK RS’s are over $250k. It’s exactly what I wanted. A MANual GT car that is great to road trip and daily, and is capable on the track. It’s, for me, the perfect car.

Put 500 break in oil miles on it and then 1795 conventional oil miles on it. Switching to full synthetic and it’s full fury time!

you definitely want the gearing. The gearing is so worth the money.

Driving impressions:

The noise. It sounds like war. Its intoxicating. In sport mode with all the flaps open it’s obnoxious. I had a giggle cry a few times going through underpasses. Can’t wait to rip it through the canyons.

The power. There’s power everywhere. It’s insane. It’s useable in every part of the rev range. Decent pull even as low as 2k rpm. 3k rpm feels like 5k rpm before. 5k feels like 7k used to and 7k feels like absolutely insanity. It’s honestly hard to get to 7k on the street, just from how quickly things come at you. Third gear is an absolute monster. All this power with AWD, it’s an absolute cheat code. I’ve met my hero and it did not disappoint.

The 991.1 RS's are high 190s - the .2's are 250. Still... much like my final decision on the SpyderRS... a 3RS is not as good as two regular cars with DeMan motors.

Your review sounds exactly like every other review. Torque monster. Power everywhere. IMO it's the perfect street motor. Don't need to wind the F out of it (like you do a 3 or an RS product)... diesel-like torque almost, can lope around town at 2500 and squirt it on whenever you need it, almost like a turbo car.

Have you done GT3 LCAs and coilovers yet to really get you to a MANual faux .1 GT3?
