Yeah man, thanks buddy. Conditions were sketchy, but man this is a hero car. It’s so good.
I’ve been to the Smokies, and yeah the roads are great, but the difference is the traffic, cops and etiquette. I’ve been all over the mountains of Southern California, and nothing beats it. There’s no cops, no traffic, and people have good mountain road etiquette. I pretty much had the whole mountain to myself, and in the rare instance I ran up on someone they used the next turn out. Next stop, the ALPS! Lol

Doood I am SO JEALOUS you got to go to GVBC!!! I've followed Jay for years (so sad, Nicole's story). Doing GVBC is a bucket list item for me.
And I agree - Cali canyons always seem empty. Between videos (lots) and my personal time in them (minimal... but I always hit up some roads when I was in Malibu for work years ago).
Stuff here in GA/TN/SC/NC are always crowded and seem to be getting worse. My usual group of local friends have mostly stopped doing ANY drives on the weekends because everything is just crowded AF. We either get total idiots driving WAY over their heads, or tourists/granolas. Most of my friends just go on a weekday morning... which sucks for me. Haven't done much in the mountains in months.

Yeah Jay is awesome. GVBC is the epitome of car meets. It doesn’t get any better.
Malibu is decent, but people live up in those hills, so you still have people commuting and there’s driveways and stuff. Angeles Forest is the best because it’s a national forest. Nobody lives up there. There’s only a few cabins and camps run by Christian groups, so there’s nobody up there. The smokies are heavily populated for the terrain. That’s why the tail of the dragon is so good when it’s empty. There’s no cross streets, no driveways, just you and your ability as long as oncoming traffic keeps it in their lane. If you don’t get a run in early on a weekday, then it’s fucked most of the time. When I go through there on my way to Jersey, I go up and down a couple times and then bail. It’s not worth hanging around. Too many cops and too many idiots.

My goodness that thing sounds glorious.
One thing I was never in love with on the 991.1 generation is the painted engine deck lid louvers. There is one oem options, that’s the 911R grill, and it’s $5k. I’m not balling enough to spend that money. I found an 911R “style” version on eBay and decided to give it a shot. It was still not cheap for what amounts to a piece of plastic, but it was cheap enough for me to give it a try.
