Who sells new transmission parts for reasonable prices? Specifically the clutch packs and dual mass flywheel.

Are you going for OEM or a performance clutch packs.
I have never heard of flywheel going bad on DSG transmission before.
For OEM clutch pack the part #02E398029B and the cheapest if you search it is on Amazon for $650 and $692 (on sale) on Deutsche Auto Parts site.
For performance clutch packs check out SS Performance and Dodson.

I just installed SSP Stage 1 clutch packs, LSD and replaced clutch solenoids on Mechatronic unit. Going to pick up a car today. Hopefully new solenoids cured the clutch engagement issue I have. When it comes to DSG gearboxes, they are not cheap to fix.

What kind of issues were you having from the solenoids?

I get a clutch jerk from stop to roll (1st gear only). To describe it - feels like someone dropped the clutch, and the the jerking would get worse as the oil gets hotter. When it was 80 degrees outside, it was very annoying. DSG adaptation would fix the problem for couple of weeks and then its all over again. So I blamed the K1 solenoid for the issue, since it's responsible for engaging the clutch for 1st gear. Will test the car in a few hours, DSG box is just going back into the car.

I got my stock clutches and virtually there is no wear after 55K miles, 20K of which on K04 power. You can have them if you interested at the cost of the shipping. Let me know and I will send you pictures.

That would be fantastic. Gotta diagnose what the heck it is making this noise. It's like someone grinding gears on a car without synchro a but it doesn't always happen at every shift. Mainly going into 4th and sometimes downshifting (automatically) from 3 to 2. Could be a solenoid issue?
Zip is 37205. I can check out some pics. My cars got 85K on it. Did you go to a specialist for the solenoid repair?

Is it grinding noise or more of a metal clunk during shifting?
Replacing solenoids is very simple, disconnect wire harness and unscrew couple of bolts. You can do it yourself or any mechanic can do it. No special training/experience is needed. Here is the lino for OEM solenoids http://www.sonnax.com/units/368-02E

PM me email address and I will send you the pictures of clutch packs.

It is a grinding/scraping during upshifts. Clunk during down (mainly when the transmission downshifts in M alone not when I command a downshift)
Here are some videos

Well it was flywheel failure:-/ She is getting fixed tomorrow along with changing out the clutch pack to a less-worn one and installing new K1/K2/pressure solenoids.

DMF took out input shaft at the clutch pack only. Luckily I didn't drive it too far.

To the OP, how many miles did you have on the OEM DMF before it let go? Did you replace the K1/K2 solenoids just as preventative maintenance or was there a diagnosed issue with them?

Reason I'm asking is I've 115k on my GTI and I'm getting ready to put in an LSD. Since I'll have the trans out I've been debating whether or not to replace the DMF and Clutches with OEM parts as preventative mx.

I replaced my DSG DMF @ 120k miles after I pulled the trans to do the rear main seal. I actually found my original was still in good condition and had about the same amount of play as the brand new one. Didn't really notice any different with the new vs old. I got my OEM LUK one off ebay from a seller for $300 new but looks like the going price now is $350-450

Interesting... Still on the fence if I should replace mine or not.... Spending 600 on new clutches and another 350-450 on the DMF to proactively replace these parts is messing with my head.

For the record I bought a NIB DMF labelled as a OE/LuK brand for just over $200 shipped. Check Ebay.de if you're looking for one. Mine didn't come in a factory box and did not have a new pilot bearing but it is brand new and I couldn't pass it up for the price.
