Compliments on GTI from Strangers?

I'd say I've received compliments on an average of once per month.

Last week a lady driving an older S4 asked how much power I made and where/how much for the ECU flash lol.

Homeless gentlemen have given me several compliments as I've exited my car.

It is funny that I get so many compliments and my GTI is completely stock. I've had people go out of their way to ask about it. I was once inside a small store on a strip and someone walking by just had to come in and ask "Who's VW is that outside?".
I've all sorts, I've even had people check the whole thing out, sitting in it, checking out the rear seat room etc, everything short of a test drive.

It is strange cause no one really did this when I had the Lexus IS, lol I thought I was keeping a low profile by getting the dub too. SMH.

I get compliments all the time. I also get asked by other MK6 owners why the dealer didn't tell them about the wheels I have, when I tell them it is because they are not stock they are Avant Garde M310 wheels. I get the response that they should be factory option. I also get I am one brave sole for modifying a brand new car all the time.

I might add as well, A few have asked randomly, if my interior and Detroits we're options/add-ons. they get surprised when I say, it's all stock...and it's the base model..LoL

I work in an urban area and get looks and nods when they see my dubs, haha. Are those stock?

Recently, a skinny black man pulled up next to me in his ghetto-glider Olds Delta 88 as I was stowing groceries at a Publix and asked me where I got my "rims" and for how much.

I told him Rent-A-Wheel, $3000, and that there were none left in stock.

I promptly drove straight home, ensuring that the car was in the garage and locked when I went inside.

Oh I forgot to mention that I'm on Detroits.

The best I get is it's cute, which to me is annoying not a compliment but people are always complementing the LED DRL's.

Not many people expect much from the GTI, heck! some people consider a maxima more sporty because it has a V6...that's how ignorant people are here.

Only westerns seem to like it.

Car guy's understand, Ive gotten a few thumbs up, and nice car from the guys. I caught a 20 something guy snapping pictures of it in a parking lot once. He said he wants one.

I get quite a few "your car is so cute" from the ladies. I'm not sure if I like the"cute" part

Right...immediately starting out by making sure not to say "a dude" but to ensure everyone knows it's a black dude, that he drives a "ghetto" car, that he felt the need to lie to this man and tell him something bogus as though he's dumb, then go home and lock everything down securely in case this man decided to follow him home and rob him. Fucking idiot.

If anything, only thing you did was set urself up if he really was a thief. Telling him there are no more and that they are $3000 dollar wheels? :iono:
