I almost bought this after my first GTI died 😆 probably best that I didn't, but a nice jdm wagon would be 🤌

Looked good though. Specifically the pre-facelift.

The facelift looks awful imo.

This bumper is horrendous.

I sold my 05 STi and bought an 08 STI. I wish I'd kept the 05. The 08 was fast, when it wasn't broken, but Subaru started having issues with the EJ257 in 2017 when they added the SAI. Subarus are prone to destroying #4 rings and pistons as it is, the new smog equipment amplified that. They didn't figure it out until 2009. By that time, I was done with the EJ engine family.

With just a set of camber bolts, a rear sway, a DP and a tune, that thing was fantastic on track, until it wasn't.

08 was about when I started to consider an STI because I loved the hatch. I had been in my MKV GTI for a couple of years at that point. I think the price for the STI was in the low-ish 30s, maybe? Wild to think that was peak hot hatch pricing at that time and now base GTIs are more than that haha.
