DIY: Tiguan Pipe Install & Noise Maker Delete

I forgot the noisepipe bible when i removed it couple days ago. I just put the loud noisepipe back in for now. For ME, the noisepipe removal is only supposed to happen once you add a downpipe or even a catback. Bone stock, the car was just too quiet without it. I had to put it back until I change my exhaust some day.

I changed my exhaust to Miltek about 4000 miles ago, forgot i even had a noise pipe. The beast of an exhaust system drowns it out. I am onto carbonio next and revo in october. Might even look at the revo dsg software. Way cool stuff

so if the new gti doesn't have the noisepipe and noisemaker, then does it have a tiguan's pipe instead? or is it a new piece?

Thanks for the awesome post! I did mine today and would have had a much harder time without this aid!

That said, I would like to express my frustration with the following

-If you haven't taken out our stock intake, you'll want to do that or you'll get stopped at step 6 as there's zero room to move. Removng that clip behind the plastic 'U' bend from the air box to wherever it goes was a pain but very doable

-Removing the old pipe. It doesn't just wiggle out. Took a good 5 minutes to pop out. For the record, I took it out from the bottom

-Screwing in the new pipe's top screw to the car as shown in step 7 (step 7 was okay to remove, but putting it back took 30 minutes and caused a lot of swearing and beer drinking)

Thanks again! I hope these tips/comments help whomever's next to try the mod!

I took the car out for a bit, and while the 2600-3000 RPM rattle is still there, it doesn't sound as bad. Probably because I now hear the turbo spooling up more and that drows out that stilly rattle. Just my 0.02$

I couldn't put that screw back haha, I gave up :( it's hard as hell! and i cut myself like 10 times with the radiator fan

i have no idea why you guys cant do it. i should make a video. it is the easiest thing to do. you are removing your intake U bend tube right?? I use a 6-8" extension from front, every easy. You better get that screw in. The vibration will shear the brackets eventually. And dont tighten either bolt until both are started.

For me the problem was not reaching the screw or aligning it to the hole, it was the hole actually taking it in, it would just go round and round and not go in as if the screw was bigger than the hole. It would take about 5 turns and seem like it was going in and then come loose again. After a lot of sweating and frustration I gave up.

its tricky. you just gotta apply pressure, make sure its sunk deep, and slowly turn it.

Thanks, I'll try it again, I was kind of in a hurry that day because some friends were having a party in my house while i was 50 miles away with dsm1983 working on my car haha

oh, and dont tighten any clamps until those 2 bolts are in and tight. If you tighten the clamps first, the pipe wont twist enough to get the bolts started straight.

and.. always start the middle/top bolt first. much harder. the lower bolt is cake, so do that one last.
