I don't wear my seatbelt. though i do wear a full face helmet when I ride. my reasoning behind not wearing a seat belt is I flipped a car on 309 a while back and was told by the cop, and the medic that if I had been wearing it i would have been crushed. and dead instead of walking away with some bumps and bruises.

remember though, that is not the norm - very few cases are like that.

Was a cop for 5 years. You bet your sack you'll wear your seat belt when you come on scene of people ejected out of their cars and into traffic. Or, seeing them folded underneath the dash.

My wife would be dead if not for her wearing he seatbelt in her crash.

That being said, no laws needed. Let dumb people be dumb. Gene pool could use some thinning. :fighting0030:

^^ I understand its not the norm. I've been in a few accidents all with no belt on. In one I cracked the window with my head because the airbag deployed and burst before it even reached me. But at the end of the day I was never told that it saved my life, only that it could have killed me.

Extremely childish, stupid, irresponsible, etc...I already know. But this verse that I heard in high school has stuck with me. I convinced my girl to always wear hers, but i have yet to convince myself. I did buckle up on the way from work today though, first accumulating snow fall I have driven in with the GTI.

the side window or windshield? sounds like the airbag may have malfunctioned if it exploded. The airbag didn't save my life in my accident, only the seatbelt. Adding multiple items is an effort to reduce the risk as much as possible, thats why some cars have 10+ airbags in them now. Again, there can be times where a seatbelt could possibly be an issue, but 9.9 times out of 10, that seatbelt will do more to help than to hurt you. Also, as show in the vid link posted above, you can always hit your head on the side glass, but that's not supposed to be anywhere near as bad as the windshield.

i wear mine 100% of the time and tell all my passengers to do the same before i even start moving the car. I don't want the guilt of someone passing away in a car accident, because my stupid ass didn't put safety first, to be weighing on me the rest of my life.

100% of the time - as a driver or passenger, front seat or back seat, any car in any country...

Yes.

My mom went into the windshield of her 73 Camaro after being t-boned by a woman chasing her husband in a Olds 98. My brother and I were in the backseat. My mom hasn't been right since and this was in 1977.

This was back when lap belts were "enough". We've come along way and I don't get why some don't use all of the safety features in their cars.

Hell I don't get why people don't raise their lazy hand to use a fkn turn signal.
