Shit, glad I said something! I have bi-xenon, not halogen. '1F' or '55' maybe? Need to read more. Got a guy who is willing to experiment a bit with VAGCOM for beer; I'll report back on what worked, in event any stragglers like myself who are late to the party need the info.

BTW, the tail's are a real aesthetic upgrade - I like them a lot, installation was breeze, and fit looks good.

The Fixer
1F worked for my car with bi-xenon.
Replacement bulbs are:

Amber turn signal 7440A
Reverse backup 921

Quick post-script.
Went to a garage in N. Georgia for a GIAC Stage 1 tune. The mech's had a VAGCOM, so I asked if we could give it a go on trying to clear the bulb-out indicator.
The tech tried 1F & 55, and neither removed the bulb-out indicator.
Tech tried another code - which he didnt' tell me what it was - and the light was removed, but the rear driver's side reverse light turned on whenever tails were on.
We ran out of time to try more - will give it another go next month.

1F and 55 should work. Mine was Xenon and 1F worked.

Make sure they are manually typing in the 1F. It will not show up on the drop down menu. You have to click in the long code, delete two digit old coding, and type in 1F or 55.

Then save and exit. Turn car off to clear code and turn car on.

Also as a double check, rear what message you are receiving as an error. If there is a halogen bulb out somewhere it will trigger still. I would read message and inspect the specific light function.

Latest update - put '21' in byte 18 - voila, all lights work as should, and bulb-out light is OFF.
Thanks again for responses.

Hey guys, has anybody here had those tail lights for 2, 3 years or more? I am thinking about getting them, but would like some feedback as to the longevity of them. Any experiences shared will be greatly appreciated.

I've had mine for 2 years and they still look and function great. The 2 changes I made were changed the backup bulb to a high powered led as the original bulbs are really pretty dim and went to 7440a led bulbs (if you change the 7440a) make sure its not too tall.

I'd highly recommend this change!!1

Same boat... Had mine for just over 2 years (dark cherry no fog). They look and work great!! I've replaced the reverse and turn signal bulbs with DeAutoKey leds and have been quite happy with them. I've also ran a wire from the outside lights to the inside, so all 4 tails function as brake lights. But that was just a preference change. They work great and I also highly recommend them.

Thank you very much for your feedback. Question, and this one comes from a point of ignorance more than anything else. Do you need one 7440a led bulb per tail light meaning a total of 2 (1 for the left tail light and one for the right tail light) or do you need multiple of those LEDs per tail light?

Thank you...

Does that mean that, if you don't do that wiring, when you brake the tail lights won't light up? Thank you for your time...

The lights come with standard bulbs for the turn signal and reverse lights. The rest of the light is LED. So two reverse bulbs and 2 turn signal bulbs.

Standard feature on MK6 lights is all for lights are running lights. When you brake only the outer lights are brake lights. The wiring mod that xtant3150 did makes all four lights running and brake lights. Its a preference for some but not required.

Did you happen to document how you ran the wire? I would like to do this mod. I had this type of mod on my mk4.

Just installed my DEPO LED Tail Lights two weekends ago. Easy install, and as for fitment, I would say are an 8 out of 10. Not OEM but for the price, I think they well worth it. I'll post some photos soon. I purchased the Dark Cherry NA (North American) without fog.

Went through a carwash too with no issues.

Thanks to Joe for offering this!

Thank you so much for your feedback... Another issue that I hadn't even thought about was taking your car through a car wash.. STRANGETDI made a good point of having taken the car to a car wash with no issues.. Have you heard of issues with these tail lights after taken to a car wash?

Thank you...
