headlight switch ?

I often read about people replacing their oem headlight switch for a euro-headlight switch .... What is the difference ?

& my 2012 GTI is at 50,000 km do I need to replace the DSG trans. fluid ?

With the euro switch you can run parking lights with fogs. No need to turn on the headlights for fogs.

In the US it is 40,000 miles for a DSG fluid change. You are not there yet. I believe your maintenance book will tell you how many km's to change it at.
