2012 GTI Autobahn w/Dynaudio.
I've been wanting to replace the stereo in my car for the last year or so (mostly for Android Auto features), but was a bit put off by the price, and apparently the Dynaudio adds some complication if I want to keep using the steering wheel controls, factory bluetooth etc. I recently got a free Alpine iLX-407 and Maestro RR out of sheer coincidence, both appearing brand new, so I went to Crutchfield and bought all of the wiring harness adapters and mounting adapter stuff that they said I needed, since it only came out to about $85 with me already having the expensive bits.
Everything seems mostly plug and play (besides programming the Maestro) supposedly. And I'm not particularly new to car audio, but I'm far from an expert. I'm fairly confident I could get this installed without too much effort, however as a stay-at-home dad of a 2 year old, I can't have my car down for more than a few hours at a time, and even then, it's quite hard to find time to get into the garage to get stuff done for more than 10 minutes at a time.
If anyone has done a similar install, is it basically plug-and-play, doable in an evening without any fancy programming or anything? Or am I better off just dropping the car and all the bits off at a professional installer and letting them make sure it's all tidied up properly and quickly?
