June 9th, Thunderhill 5 Mile Track Day for $280

One of the members of the driving group [Ace R.] has worked out a deal with Thunderhill too allow us to be one of the first groups to drive on the new 5 mile track once it opens. The new 2 mile west section of track is currently under construction and will be open by June 2014. *We need 30 people asap to hold the date or we could lose this deal*

There will be two groups of 40 cars each. Group 1 is open track passing for those who have done track days before and Group 2 is point by passing. Each group will run in 30 minute sessions and it only cost $280 for the day. That is a bargain and the power of enthusiasts working together.

This event will be run and managed by Thunderhill. The date is planned for Monday, June 9th 2014.

I have posted this event to the drives event site to help manage things.

Bump to get more people. For us to get the track we need more people.

Q&A from all the forums.

Q - Who is running the event?
A - Thunderhill is provinging the track logistics, we are gathering the people

Q - How many session do I get?
A - As there is only two groups you will get 6 - 7 sessions of 30 minute each. That is double the time on the track vs most track groups.

Q - How many people have signed up?
A - 8 and we need 60 to get the track.

The cost is what is for the track. I am not dictating the cost as Thunder hill is giving us the 5 miles not the small track. So that costs more.

If someone does it cheaper at the moment it is for the small track. The 5 mile track is NOT OPEN yet so no one can do it for that price. Unless you drive in the dirt then go for it. HOD is doing the full 5 mile track the weekend before, which is one of the first events to use all 5 miles and that is $540. You also only get 3 sessions where with what we worked out is 6 or more. So at $280 you get longer sessions and more track time. That is a steal. Sorry things cost money.

As for your comments about other events. You fail to see that sometime things cost money especially when you factor in doing events for a multi day event. Again sorry things cost money.

As I have said before my friend warned me that some VW community members like you are quick to jump on the hate wagon. These events are not for you, fine, so why are you getting all upset when no one is forcing you to come? These are all by choice and if you come myself and those who put on other events do our best so we all have fun.

And for the record, not all the drive are paid. Only the over night drives cost money. Reason is you need a place to stay as most of us don't want to sleep in our cars. As for the free day drives, see the pics of the recent Napa drive:
