LED City Light errors

Anyone else have problems with LED City Lights throwing codes? I have read every thread multiple times on this forum (and another) and no one else has reported a similar experience. I have a 2011 GTI.

I've had two different sets of LEDs from 2 different (and very reliable) vendors and no matter that the brand, resistor, or configuration, I always get a "Check right front side light." I have had to return both sets. With no resistors, the error comes up immediately. With the resistors, it takes about 5 minutes and the error pops up. Neither vendor says they have issues, and both cheerfully refunded me after trying some diagnostic work, but gave up. Just want to see if anyone else has had the same experience.

Yes, I know I can code them out with VCDS, but I don't want to. They are advertised as "no error" LEDs, but in my case they are not.

I believe if you use VAGCOM and code to LED DRLs you won't have any issues. I say believe because I have LED city lights and have no bulb out error and it's the only change I've made in VAGCOM recently. I have a friend that doesn't have this change and his throws an error. For sure this change will also allow you to have LED side marker lights without an error.

same scenario.. also 2011 gti
tried just about every LED supplier... all configurations with no luck.
and all of them were nice enough to send out replacements to try also.. always got the bulb error.

What is the resistance to coding them properly? Doing so keeps the system from cycling through and those intermittent flashes when its doing a bulb check.

Then you can just run $5 LEDs and call it a day with no worries again.

yeah, gonna try code this summer again for sure.

I guess I was on some crazy mission to get them in with out coding since all advertised as "no error" LEDs.. all vendors were cool to resend or refund..

thought I was the only throwing "bulb out" with all these "no error" led's..

Nope, you're not alone. We must think alike! I have given up. If you have a 2011 and I have a 2011, maybe it's something only with 2011s.... Beware, "no error" LEDs may not be.

While I liked the LEDs, I especially liked the no error advertisement, as I do not wish to code them out. I'll stick with stock lamps and save the $$ for detailing supplies.

Just use VCDS. Your options to which bulbs you can use opens a lot if you just code away the error, rather than trying to find "error free" bulbs that work, and may cost more because they are "error free".

This was the first set I bought, so for me, they were not error free. Like the usual DeAutoKey style though, they bent over backwards to try to help me out, even sending out a new set of resistors, and then cheerfully and quickly refunded my money when even those threw codes.

Thanks for the feedback, we are always here for our customers.

It is interested because the same set you sent us back worked in a 2012 GTI with no errors.

So we are not sure what the difference might be, we have a new pair we would like you to try, msg us here and we will give you more info. We also can send you the OSRAM to test out.

Please note OP is referring to the the halogen headlamps and different LED set up, the bi-xenon work fine and we have an error free pair of OSRAM LEDs here:
