Light bulbs in front and rear domes and footwells???

Does anyone know what interior light bulbs are in the:

1. Footwells
2. Front Domes
3. Rear Dome
4. Above the sun visors?

as i want to change them but dont know what fitment size they are?

The Dome lights are 501 or W5W. Not sure what the footwell lights are yet haven't got to them yet.

The bulbs are the 5w5 or 501 for the footwells but as on the mk5 the bulb out warning lamp comes on because of the low power consumption of LEDS. so either change for a normal bulb or need to get a LED with a resister in series. for it to work.

I've changed my footwell lamps for LED's and they have'nt activated the lamp out warning light on the dash. They dont have resistors neither. I tried them in the number plate lights (same type of bulb) and they did activate the lamp out warning.

can we get some pictures posted of these replaced lamps? Also, would it look terrible to replace with red bulbs? I thought it may look sweet, maybe just for the visor lamps, and white everywhere else.

Hi guys, came across your thread when searching how to remove the footwell bulb.
I've basically taken the bulb holder out but it is enclosed by a metal box. I've tried plying that with a screwdriver but it won't part. Is there a trick to remove the metal box?

Also is there any trick for removing the front dome to change the lights?

Hi, i changed mine, i was surprised when i found they were enclosed in a metal case. I gentally prised the box out without damging it and replaced the bulb. Just be careful and you will get into it.

One thing though, i put Led bulbs in, the ones that the leds point straight forward. You will be better off with the 360 degree bulbs with leds all around the head. Alternatively you can get a flat type with the leds pointing out of the side if you know what i mean.:w00t:

Have you changed the front dome? Changing my rear has made a big difference to the car.
