Mileage on new car

Anyone buy a new car/GTI with a couple hundred miles on it because it had to be driven from another dealership (or had demo miles on it)? Were you okay with this, or was the new car experience diminished because you didn't drive it first?

104 for me. I drove one at another dealer still in port packaging (hadn't even been fueled) with 37. If it's over 200 use it as a bargaining point, but it's really not a big deal.

It depends on the car for me, but in the case of this GTI purchase, in order to get the "sign and then drive" deal, I had to get one from a dealership in another state which meant driving it over. The car ended up with about 350 miles on it. I can't say I was thrilled by that, but it's a lease and it's covered by warranty and maintenance.

mine had to be driven from another dealer 2hrs away. it had 107 miles on it... my sales guy drove it, which i trust, so no biggie.

Mine had 34 miles ---- but I had to drive it from Phoenix, so it wasn't long before there were 960 miles on the odo by the time I got home!!!!! :)

Considering im picky and like to be the only person who drives my car (assuming its a new car)

8 miles is about what the factory test is. my car had 24 miles on it when i took it home, of course something like 10 of those were my test drive.

Our car had 7 miles on it - then we test drove it (only people to test drive it). Put 1 mile on it - then we picked it up with 9 miles. They did another check on the car before we took delivery, which was the other mile.

Feels good to know we had the only test drive on the car - its as close as we could get without special ordering the car.

hell no ! I wouldn't get any new car that has 15km or more . When car driving more than that it's basically a demo car which a lot of ppl have been driving around with it. lol

Mine had over 1200 miles it because it was driven daily by the sales manager who commuted about 40 miles to work. It was the only car that I could find in the US that had every available option VW offered. The car was in perfect condition and after a full day of haggling I ended getting a good deal so I bought the car. I have not regretted the decision and had no problems except the notorious rear washer leak.:(

Well, when I originally saw this thread some time ago, I thought "no way". My idea of a new car was < 20 miles on it.

Fast forward to today. I am going to take delivery of a 2010 CSG 4DR 6MT with probably over 300 miles on it. Why? Because I can't spec a 2011 just the way I want it. Also because I found a great guy at a good dealership who gave me an excellent price. As he put it "every car has a story". My car's story is that it was a dealer's swap from MA to NH that fell through, and the car is going to have some extra miles on it because it will have been driven from MA to NH back to MA, and the irony... I live in NH.

Anyway. The way I look at it is this is my car. Maybe I, and the car, had to go through a bit extra to find each other, but in the end it will not matter.

The mileage wouldn't concern me too much (although anything over 50 and I'd be using it as a barging tool.) It would be how those miles were put on. I know how I drive my cars, I don't know how some flunky that gets paid to drive cars from point a to point be drives a car that isn't theirs. Too many horror stories about cars getting trashed.
